Anyone catch last week premiere of Sanctuary on Skiffy? I finally watched it and was pleasantly surprised. Certainly shows promise in a satisfying way Fringe hasn’t done for me yet. Other thoughts?
I just find it funny when Skiffy says it is original. Sanctuary was available for paid download for quite a while. The only thing that changed was that Skiffy ran low on programming due to the writer’s strike and licensed what the crew behind Sanctuary had already done online.
Still, I like it.
I totally forgot to catch it, but for some reason I didn’t watch any TV last Friday night.
This not the first series they have done that on.
I liked it. Not love, but like. I will keep recording it if nothing else for Amanda Tapping.
I thought the episodes they were airing were original (i.e., new.) Am I mistaken?
Nope. If we see David Hewlett pop up, then it is the exact same stuff that was available as paid downloads. The premiere was already available as a paid download previously.
Tonight’s episode was neat. The actresses who portrayed Dee and Racetrack in the realm of BSG were in this episode. Leah Cairns can have such an evil look far too readily, it seems.
I’ve just seen the first ep (EP01~02), and am about the see EP02, in an attempt to clear out my Tivo. My first-hand impressions:
- “Hey, why is Samantha Carter talking in that horrendous accent?”
- “Hey, it’s Dee.”
- From the webisode pilot to the on-air pilot, it’s surprising how much better and more polished it looks with just a little editing.
- Rodney McKay was in the webisode pilot, but got cut for on-air. I wonder he comes back later.
- I’m gonna give this show 4~5 episodes. I’m not really sold on it yet.
I could totally fell the hand of Stargate throughout. There are a lot of crew members involved also, not only the actors. I think it is a interesting idea. I’m not so hot on the accent but I am hot on Amanda Tapping - IYKWIM. One very odd thing for me is the Dr. Zimmerman (Is it me or is the name Zimmerman popping up a lot in TV recently?) character. It fells like the actor Robin Dunne is playing Michael Shanks, playing Dr. Daniel Jackson, playing Dr. Will Zimmerman. Everyone still with me? 
I am interested so far and can’t wait to see what they do.
Glad to see other people are enjoying the show. I knew it had been online, but I never followed it there. I do like the graphic novel feel of the place. I’ll stick with it because new Torchwood is a long way off.
frak me! I’m watching the premiere of Sanctuary on sciffy right now… after all these years of watching Stargate… I never, never realized that Amanda Tapping is British!!! egad!

I’ve watched the webseries, that aired BEFORE Season 1 (Sean, you got it wrong on the cast) and was rewritten and is in the first few episodes of S1 last year. It was greatly done and a few months ago I have watched the first 2 episodes of the 1st Season. Because Season 2 starts this Friday and I’ve heard much good things of the series, like Amanda Tapping’s and Christopher Hyderdal’s (sp??) portrayal of their characters and to get up to speed, I’ll try to watch the hole Season 1 in the next few days, so I can jump right into S2 when it starts.
Amanda Tapping does not have a natural british accent, if I remember correctly shes Canadian and one of her parents is British. She is damn good at that accent though, very layered.
Started off a little slow for me, but season 1 is real strong overall. Season 2 looks fantastic and I cant wait for it to air!
I watched the first episode of season 2… I had a hard time. The story actually is very interesting especially to the end of the episode.
But the acting was very hard to swallow. Aside from Amanda Tapping , the tall vampire teleporting guy, and the girl shot in the leg, the rest of the crew’s delievery takes me out of the scene. Which is something I haven’t expereinced in a while.
I’ll keep trying, though, maybe with the more intense plot, the acting will get much better.
Sanctuary hasn’t grabbed me as much Warehouse 13 has. I guess I just don’t like the Cabal as the baddies. It IS cool having vampire Tesla and Jack the Ripper on YOUR team, though! The 2nd season premier may be the best episode to date, though, so I’m giving it another shot.

This trailer from Comic-Con looks like a lot will happen in Season 3. There will be 20 episodes. Especially OSSIM to see Tesla again:
after the end of last season i gave up in the show, they moved away from mythology and it lost my interest. basicially i just loved the tessla charater but it wasnt enough for me… still if you folk tell me that season three is good ill give it a shot again.
