Hey – it looks like Audra and I will be in San Diego over the weekend of Mar. 22nd. I don’t know what our schedule looks like yet, but I’d imagine we’d have time for a meetup in there somewhere.
Any interest?

Subject to the chance of matters erupting here, you have my vote for San Diego.
I will either be in San Francisco or Anaheim that weekend - the former a short flight, the latter, a short drive - count me as a definite maybe.
That is only an 1 1/2 hour drive for me… so count me in. Just let me know the time and place …
Too bad. Ships that pass in night. I’m gonna be in San Diego on March 11-12.
-Thot
Doable for me as well
Rock! This is gonna be great. We already have tickets, so Audra and I will definitely be there. If you have good suggestions of a place to meet in San Diego proper, post 'em up. If not we’ll scout something out and post it closer to the date.
While it’s fun to plan activities, I’m more partial to meeting up somewhere we can grab some grub and hang out together. But hey – that’s why I’m in to podcasting; I’m all about the talk.
Hey Chuck,
Keep us posted. There’s a chance we could make it down from the Bay Area then.
BTW, is there any chance of you guys being in the SF area around the Maker’s Faire again this year?
If you’re into Mexican Food, there is a FANTASTIC place in old Town called Casa Del Reyes… It is a covered outdoor restaurant, that is big, but not over bearing (noise wise) and if you have to wait for a table there is a woman who makes tortillas with butter and salsa that will make you slap your momma…
If you’re looking for beer, beer, and more beer, there is a Yardhouse in the downtown area… They have more then 200 different beers on tap… so regardless of your tastes… you’ll find something you like. It has the typical bar grill atmosphere and can be crowded and noisy on Weekends nights…
Another good spot is the Coronado Brewing Co. Good microbrews, pizza and nice atmosphere… also close to downtown.
There are also a WIDE selection of pubs if your into that scene…
Hey, I just joined the forum, but I’ve been listening to GWC for months now. I also live in San Diego and echo darthweef’s sentiments - Old Town is a great place for grub & various liquids.
Count me in for this meetup!
There is good grub and good suds to be had all over San Diego! Give us an idea of what your tastes run to, and I’ll have a list for you, too!
Count me in!
Do you have an area of interest?
love, me! b!
If I have my car by then then yes!
This is pasted from the other thread
My hubby is already combing the town in his mind for cool places to share- please give a shout about what you and Audra are interested in sampling. There are a number of fine Mexican, bbq, Asian, pub, coffee shop, dessert shop (Extraordinary Desserts is to die for, but expensive- killer coffee, too!).
The Cohn family restaurants are all fantastic- Corvette Diner is the fun 50’s place with rude/audacious servers, the rest are more upscale but excellent.
Gelato Vero is cool for coffee, tea, gelato & other sweets.
Claire de Lune is another cool coffee shop, sometimes with entertainment.
Phil’s BBQ is awesome.
Kansas City BBQ is where they filmed Top Gun.
Dublin Square is a cool pub in the Gaslamp Quarter.
There are so many pubs here, just check a look!
Sushi, mmmmm… too many places to itemize. Throw a rock. See what it hits.
The Vietnamese food here also rocks! My fave 2 are Pho T Cali and K Sandwiches. The prices are excellent, and the teas and coffee are awesome.
Hash House A Go Go is a killer place for breakfast, and it’s sister the Tractor Room is fiiiiine.
This is a rich environment for foodies and brewdies. Just point us in the right direction and we’ll come up with something…
My hubby pores over the Reader and City beat, and since his work takes him into the field, he sniffs out the coolest places. There are cool places for every taste and budget.
RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
love, me! b!
Ohhhh yeah I dig that! lol “slap your momma…” Sounds like one of bkitty’s sayings.
Wow, I didn’t realize a number of folks will be able to meet up! How cool is that! I’m easy to please when it comes to food and beer. I usually prefer both.
Are we planning Friday the 21st or Saturday the 22nd???
I would REALLY like to request it be Friday the 21st as I can not make it on Saturday …
So – let’s pick a night …
If no one else can do Friday, I understand, I will make the next meetup, but you make me one happy geek if we could have it on Friday night …
I’m totally up for Friday night. How would everyone feel about a Friday night restaurant meetup? Can everyone make that? BKitty?
If you are doing a Friday meetup, I definitely can’t make it. Saturday is looking less and less like an option for me as well for the dumbest reason of all - my corporate travel policy forbids me from starting a business trip on a Saturday, unless the actual work begins on a Sunday. Why? Clearly, it’s not good for the company.
Have a great time, though. San Diego is a great town to visit.
I’m 90% sure that I can make Friday the 21st!
Friday is a ‘go’ for us! Now we just need a where!
Sad FM can’t travel to it. sigh.
I’ve posted some places, I know others have, too- what’s a good place for everyone?
Chuck & Audra, are there travel considerations? A part of town you want to stick around in? Anyone else have preferences/budgetary considerations? That will narrow the choices.
Looking forward to it!
Let’s plan on Friday, then. We’re staying in the “gaslight” district (whatever that is), but we’re planning on driving some anyway.
