I still don’t know what to make of new Starbuck… definitely freaky. Her comments to Anders about feeling like she is disconnected from her body… the look Anders gives her. The Starbuck thing is haunting.
How truly cool is it that after all this time and all the dark, gross things we’ve been dragged through on this show, that four years into it they can still make us say “Wow, that was dark” ? lol. I love it.

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about the blood in this episode: the drop on the deckplate that seems to be a flashback to Cally’s assassination of Boomer; the drops of paint we all mistook for blood on Starbuck’s face; the blood still being cleaned up by the centurions; and most especially Chief slicing his finger and licking off the blood. Something in that image made me think of Merchant of Venice when Shylock is justifying his demand for the infamous pound of flesh from Antonio. He talks about how he, a Jew, has been mistreated in Christian society and by Antonio in particular and says that the reason for this mistreatment is simply that he is a Jew. So here’s the quote:

Wow, sorry for showing up so late for the party, but I wasn’t able to watch the streaming or the 10pm showing, I had to wait for the reairing at 12:30.
I haven’t gotten a chance to read any of the daunting 35 pages of comments, so let me just say:
I loved the interaction in this ep between Cottle and Cally.
DAMN, Cally really did a number on the Chief’s skull with that wrench which more than rivals what he did to her when he broke her jaw.
I gotta say, I was pretty unimpressed with Torre for virtually her entire BSG stint thus far (minus her sexy mess/bed head period during S3 Crossroads), but her backhand which TOTALLY laid Cally out was IMPRESSIVE! Maybe the final five aren’t so different from the Sig 7 since now, all 4 revealed final fivers have shown great feats of strength (Torre knocking Cally out like a ragdoll, Tigh being able to take a strait punch from Caprica Six and handing one to her as well where she received that hit in the exact same way, Anders was already an interworld athletic superstar before the attack on the colonies and The Chief going smashy smashy on his soon-to-be-wife’s jaw… ok, maybe that last one is a bit weak, but still).
Oh and another thing I noticed was that this was a Baltar/Balcubine/Head-Anybody free episode, but we did get some drug induced Cally stupors instead.
I’m off to read up on all those comments that I missed now, THEN sleep.
Admiral Wetnurse didn’t have much to do in this other than storytime, making a stray comment of Military Privacy to the Press and getting a muted scene w/ The Chief to tell him about his wife.

Would ANYONE rathered that Cally had airlocked herself AND her hybrid son!!! Cally was going to off herself and her kid, Torre done pretty good in my book… comparatively. Nikki’s done nothing wrong as of tonight, so why should it be ok for him to get airlocked?
Nah, Cavil prob didn’t win yet, if I’ve learned anything from RDM, nobody “wins” in this show, they may just get the upper hand for a bit of time.

emilyfromohio - I’m starting to see another similarity now between Season4 and S1, now with the good ship poo ship, we’re getting a running count of how many days Mission: Find Earth has been running and in S1 whenever we would go back to Caprica for that storyline, we got a running count of how long Helo had been on the plannet… also Helo is #2 on the good ship poo ship… tee hee, number2 on the poo ship, it MUST be late at night…

Someone made a point earlier in this forum about the cylons being tougher than regular folks - Tigh taking a haymaker from #6 square in the jaw, Torrie whacking Callie and sending her flying across the deck, Anders being a superstar athlete… that reminded me of the end of season 3: why did Anders get pneumonia on New Caprica? Was that just a regular case or was there something cylon-ish going on there? And when Leoben came to Anders’ tent looking for Starbuck, was there any recognition? Just thinkin’ out loud…
