Good nite all. I need sleep so I can (barely) attempt to keep up with everyone tomorrow !!
Had to catch this on the in-laws’ DVR since I was wrapping up a rehearsal at 10:00. But, all I can say is: FRAK!
Holy cow was that a great hour of TV or what?
Some things come to mind:
Could Roslin be the final Cylon? Starbuck’s remark to her that “I am no more a cylon than you are” strikes me as a bit of foreshadowing.
How cool and bizarre was it to see Baltar have a conversation with head Baltar? So does this mean that Head Six and Head Baltar are NOT in their corporeal others’ heads after all? Also, his sex scene with Tory (ewww indeed, Anders fan! What’s up with the other three pimping her out like that?) was far more tender and loving than he tended to be in the past. I really think this is a new man–perhaps for the better.
The cylons are frakked. I agree, the six (is that the so-called “Natalie” character?) may have bitten off more than she can chew. This should prove interesting.
If this entire season is going to be like this I hope to the lords of Kobol that, by some miracle, we don’t have to go through a hiatus, however short. Cause man, it’s only episode two and I’m already on an adrenaline rush. Holy frak!
night topgun!
But even if we do, at least we have juicy new material to examine, reexamine and examine some more in the mean time. If the eight episodes are anything like the first two, we may need a break to keep our heads from exploding…not that I am advocating another year hiatus, mind you.
While I am not a fan of the year plus hiatus, i must agree that after the way the first two episodes have been(awesome) I suppose there are worse things in this world than having to wait for a little while between the first and second half of this last season.
Amen, brother!
It could be any day, birthday or not and I’d do anything for the lovely Ms. Helfer.
kristen, good point about Billy, frakkintalos, good point about Kendra, but no one has mentioned that with all the people mentioned thus far, no one has mentioned the VP… Zarek!
and what a gutter thread that would be!
Why does it seem worse for Tigh to suggest Torre sleep w/ Baltar of Nazareth than to implement suicide bombings on New Caprica, killing his own wife or constantly being drunk while on duty? We all love the Tigh-lon-clops, but he’s a bad bad one-eyed dude.
Cavil watching a topless 8 tai-chi-lon makes him sooooo THE MAN, c’mon, you wouldn’t do the same thing? The real question, should be which is creepier, Baltar on Baltar action or Cavil on Cavil action? Even worse Cavil on Cavil while covered in goo (a la scenes from next week) action… I know that somewhere Audra’s head just melted from a skeeviness overload!
I totally agree w/ the whole married couple thing, grab some of that Arrow of Apollo, Admiral Athiest!
Remember, when they die, it still sucks for them, they remember everything and each time it hurts more and more (from Cavil’s description, I think).
Great Airplane! ref Topgun.
Now we know all the numbers for the cylons and I can identify all the skinjobs that go with each number
1=Brother Cavil/Skeevy
2=Leoben
3=D’anna
4=Simon
5=Doral/Tigh-eye-removal-unit
6=Six/Caprica/Gina/Head-Six
8=Boomer/Athena/topless tai-chi-lon
Which means that the final 5 are models 7,9-12… the writers are just fraking with us by skipping numbers and assigning Sharon #8, you can talk about the cylons having a plan, but the writers DEFINATELY did NOT have one when they started the skinjob number bank.
Uhh, if I understand Loopy the cylon hybrid and Cylons instinctively can’t kill other cylons (Anders and the raider is a good example of this), does that help explain how Roslyn missed Starbuck with that close range shot? If Kara is a cylon and Roslyn is something in between, like a transfusion hybrid (b/c of the cylon blood cancer cure). We know that Roslyn has killed a Cylon… well, sort of. She had Leoben airlocked, but did SHE kill any cylons since she got infused with cylon blood? I don’t remember her killing anyone else.
I must say YAY(!) for Racetrack playing strip BSG-poker, but FIE on shirtless Hot Dog… whatever he’s got, I think I just caught from this ep, b/c now I’m ichy in the bad place!
Did anyone else notice on the Lee salute and sendoff, he shook hands or hugged EVERYONE on the front of each line of soldiers… except for Tigh and Anders?
Anyone else think it’s lame that Lee is either going to A) Vanish from the show altogether, or B) Be reduced to a bad-suit wearing attorney wanna-be making infrequent appearances… ?
Really lame. Did Jamie Bamber get a movie deal or something that led to this reduced role?
Yeah it is kind of lame, i agree. I seem to remember a RDM podcast where he was expressing his desire to get Lee out of the viper so that he could be involved in more situations.
If i remember right, Moore thought it was weird to have a pilot involved with high political events.
That being said, RDM could’ve since changed his mind. I don’t want to see Lee go, but it was reminiscent of a final episode last night.
… and when you think about it, Lee’s the 2nd most skilled pilot in the entire fleet, I can’t believe the Admiral would let Lee go so easily. They are at war, after all…
This has happened before; this will happen again.
I think all we need to know about next week is Six saying “Please” to a Centurion.
Ya, know?
OH MY MOTHER FRAKKING GOD!!!
I’ve seen it twice, and I’m still reeling!
One thought - I don’t think Baltar, Roslin, or Starbuck are Cylons. I think they’re Lords of Kobol, or some type of god-like-beings.
Stabuck’s statement on Earth: “It’s like I never left.” On Home Part 2 when they entered the Tomb of Athena and had the shared vision - Starbuck was the one who identified the place they were standing as Earth - she just knew.
Man, Tricia must have the hardest schedule of anyone - especially in the future when Head Six, Caprica Six, and Natalie will probably be featured in the same episode!
Roslin crying - yeah, take that bitch.
Adama: Everytime he gets over the top drunk he gets mean and bad craaaaaap happens - last time it was telling Lee he had no integrity, this time Roslin is meaningless. He also does this little, bitter, cynical laugh that is just so not-Bill.
Torrie: Oh gods, that scene with her doing Baltar was just wrong on so many levels. I wanted to cry too. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. I mean, did we really need the opening shot of feet in the air???
End: Hybrid Master - hands in the air cheering when Adama gives Starbuck her own ship to find earth!!!
Next week: What the frak is Cally going to do??? Will there be division in the ranks of the 4?
Hybrid Master - Starbuck “It’s like I never left”…Wasn’t that weird ? That implies to me that Starbuck has not only been to Earth before, but was on Earth A LONG TIME ! When you move away from home and return years later for a visit, you’d say that, you know? So what is up with that ? What IS Starbuck’s true history? This is going to blow minds when it comes out.
It’s like there’s something in her, maybe deep inside her, that is connected. It’s like Starbuck is the character she is currently playing, but underneath is something else entirely, something bigger and deeper - hence my view that she may be a god of some type. Roslin couldn’t kill her because deep inside Roslin is a similar-type being that transcends the current Roslin character that does indeed want to kill Starbuck. Deep inside they both know and cannot contradict who they are.
tlakshoe is open btw hehe
My first post to the forum. I discovered GWC about 2 months ago and am almost done catching up on the podcasts (halfway through #82). I don’t know what I’ll do when I don’t have endless GWC podcasts to listen to each day!
Anyway, I’m re-watching episode 2 now and was struck by the scene where Roslin shoots at Starbuck and misses. Later on, Anders suggests that the Cylon Raider didn’t shoot him because it knew what he was. He also wonders whether he didn’t shoot the Raider for the same reason.
In Anders case, it seems to have been a subconscious decision not to shoot. What are the chances that Roslin couldn’t shoot Starbuck for the same reason?
Obviously, the numbers don’t add up (theoretically only 1 remaining unknown Cyclon), but seemed interesting to me…
Damn. That may be the best first post yet. (Welcome, BTW!)
“They will not harm their own.”
as for the tomb of athena part, i initially thought there was information in the book of pythia, and starbuck, as the most knowledgeable about both pythia and the stars, recognized that they were standing on earth.
i have also been wondering if starbuck really has been to earth- or had an experience of going to earth-similar to the tomb of athena -where a third party? gave her the directions, and the knowledge of the planet …and to her it felt completly real…
Welcome!
Did anyone notice that Roslin’s shot hit Adama in the picture of him and Roslin?
Maybe she hit Adama in the right eye?
