Rosylyn to Recognize Baltar's Religion?!?!

I really think Rosylyn is going to recognize Baltar’s cult. I think that this is the next “new Caprica” event in history.

A LOT of characters in BSG have their characters defined as “what were they doing on New Caprica”. It kinda mkes their lives before that unimportant to their status. StarBuck and Tigh no longer hate each other after New Caprica etc. I call this a “new caprica” event.

After the coup, Baltar may be accepted back intothe “in” crowd… and be a major player… due to showing his loyalty to RoDama during the coup. just a thought. I think that She will recognize him and his followers.

Baltar has been known to fall back into the good graces of folks only to futz it up.

I don’t think Laura is gonna join the cult. Laura is a politician. She used Baltar for her purposes.

The book has been burned. Now, there is the instance of Head Baltar in shared visions of the Opera House. If somehow before the end we find out who/what these Head folk are. Then we might see a change in Laura. Right now her faith lies in ashes, literally.

ok speaking of the opera house did any1 notice how cozzy caprica 6 goot with hera??? it was almost instant creepy

Laura just wanted his wireless. She is using her brain again - thank the gods. Baltar’s self preservation programming kicked in and let her do it.

i love how laura playd to that side of baltar… and even told him that… maybe not in so many words, but it was there. also she even calld them both frauds or shams… great episode

I have a feeling Roslin is pretty much done with religion in general. And I got the impression that Baltar isn’t all that into anymore either.

Weird how we haven’t seen Head Six in a while.

ur rightt… wasnt the last time we saw her when baltar was giving his every ody’s perfect speach???

I believe you are correct.

yeah, Baltar seems to have lost his faith on Earth - or as Roslin intimates, never really converted. It makes me kind of sad because I thought he was awesome (and hilarious) as a religious leader, but we shall see where this leads.

Re: Head Six, if you check out Bear McCreary’s blog entry for A Disquiet Follows my Soul, there was evidently a cut where she was sitting with Baltar during the fight (he has a screen shot there) but when I rewatched yesterday I didn’t see that, so it might have been cut.

I loved how they were both calling each other out. Great confrontation leading to mutually beneficial alliance…

I think that he did believe what he was saying, and I think he thought of head 6 as an angel. But after leaving Erf I think he lost his religion again. (Must play that R.E.M. song again…)

I think he was protective of his “flock” before Erf, but with his loss of religion, he is really reverting to his old ways and looking out for himself.

I like that one phrase Laura uses to kinda get to him… did you guys catch it.

She kinda said that him helping her ( hense them working together) would offer them both redemption. Redemption… the magic word that means so much to him.

I think that she was saying… this get’s you back in the in-crowd.

I also think as much as she hated him initially… she realized at the end of last season… that he isn’t evil, he’s selfish and scared. He made a mistake ( refering to the destruction of the colonies) and if he had it to do over… he would have not done it. It happend thru lazziness, and not believeing he was doing anything harmful. ( happens to soldiers and marines every few years. They don’t really think that they are commiting treason ). I think that she had been motivated by her vison to believe that he had done it on purpose. Like the 70’s Baltar. She really treeted him the way she did, and in my oppinion helped drive him to giveing Gina the bomb that lead the Cylons to new Caprica, because of her vision.

I think she is honestly offering a truce of feelings. And saying, " I deem thee redeemed"

You know, I think that Roslyn is one of the few that see Baltar pretty clearly. She recognizes the fact that he is an opportunist…willing to do what he can to keep himself alive. It’s been discussed before that you would want Baltar on your team if his survival depended on it, as this is his #1 priority.

She went from viewing him as her mortal enemy to seeing him as a fellow mortal (assuming they both are human, natch). I think this brings back a humanity to "Airlock-Em’’ Roslyn that we sorely missed in Season 3.

As for his religion, I think that she sees there may be some truth to what he speaks, regardless of her thoughts on the messenger. A prophet is human. As human, he is flawed. But if a higher power(s) chooses to speak through him, is it any less the truth (NOTE: this is in the BSG world where religion definitely seems to be more tangible)? I think what he says resonates in many as “true”, making it hard to ignore.
