ROSA sci-fi 3d short film

Just found this, thought it looked really cool considering it was done by one artist with little or no budget with free 3d software, and now being turned into a feature film, very inspiring.

“ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.
The short-film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year. Since it’s world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, ROSA has been an official selection at film festivals around the world such as Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, Anima Mundi or Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. In October ROSA was screened at the opening night of the Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world’s best festival specialized in genre films. Following the succesful festival run, the short film has attracted the attention of the major talent-agencies and Hollywood producers. Currently ROSA is in development to be a live-action motion picture.”

Oh my god. That is unbelievable!

Hopefully more will come ( and soon)

Cheers.

For sure, I see alot of influences in this guys work such as the terminatior, Matrix, Final fantasy etc. Also the quality is about video game cut scene quality but very well done for one individual. Story? not sure what to make of it but enjoyed the visuals. Very inspiring makes me want to make a short film :), great editing on taht as well.

The visuals are absolutely stunning.

I would image budget precluded the use of voice talent to due narration over to flesh some back story out early on.

But damn … I’ve watched it 3 times through since yesterday and am still in awe.

If the dude had put out the first minute and setup a kickstart page I’m sure he would have eaten quite well while doing the remaining 9 minutes

Yhea the sheer work involved in something like this is beyond what I can imagine. The blood dripping in slow mo the rose pedals, the small particles in the air. The lighting. I could tell this guy was a visual artist as the art direction is choice. I mean many big budget hollywood films dont have a quarter of this type of art direction.

Kickstarter is damn cool, I’ve been conteplating jumping on that scene for awhile. Just need a worthy product and commit to it.
