I LOVE The Rocketeer, directed by Captain America’s Joe Johnston. Jennifer Connelly’s hot, Paul Sorvinos is awesome, and Timothy Dalton is oh soooooo bad. And the flying scenes are okay…
For the time (91) the effects were incredible! And Allan Arkin was a hoot too…
Loved the movie but then again I am a rather romantic fan of vintage aircraft and that period of highly experimental aircraft design and pioneering spirit.
Only downside I suppose was the fact that since it was a Disney film they did away with the whole ‘Betty Page’ thing, and had Cliff’s girlfriend be an actress instead.
A better example of flight scenes that looked really cool then but do not hold up well now would be Firefox, and that was even done by ILM.
