Religions in universe, "IT" 1 : Pythia 0?

Ok, so there is an “IT” what ever IT is. It is a singular term, so perhaps centurions were right all along.

But what about Pythia’s prophecy? At one point so much of it came true. Kobol, Arrow of Apolo, Tomb of Athena, The temple of 5, the eye of Jupiter, Earth and the rest. Even if those were right because Pythian prophecy contains historical accounts of the 13th tribe’s journey, what about the rest of the prophecy? Such as revisit Kobol will be paid in blood? 12 snakes on the podium, or other future prediction type prophecies which came true?

“And the Lords anointed a leader to guide the caravan of the heavens to their new homeland. And unto the leader, they gave a vision of serpents, numbering two and ten, as a sign of things to come.”

“… dying leader … would not live to enter the new land”

I guess the biggest question is who is the dying leader? First of all, where’s the new land? Second of all, who is the dying leader? Roslin certainly is dying, but she entered the new land.

My thought is, what if Pythian prophecy isn’t really a prophecy. What if in belief of “it all happened before and it will happen again” Pythia wrote the account of the exodus of the 13th tribe, but assuming it will happen again so wrote as if it is a prediction?

What if the dying leader happened to the 13th tribe, and simply didn’t happen this time?

Just remembered this, on New Caprica, it was the oracle Dodona Selloi who helped Number 3 on her vision to see Hera. I mean certainly the presence of Colonial Beliefs at a certain point of the show seemed pretty solid. So what happened to that thread?

Couldn’t “IT” be a collective, like the Q Continuum, or was there a more direct angle to IT that means IT was deifnitely a single entity?

I’ve kind of placed Pythia’s prophecy as a real historical event; the whole mythology came from the Lords of Kobol from Kobol, right? That’s where the Final five type cylons and the humans decided to go their separate ways, the humans to the 12 colonies, and the FF cylons to the 13th. Perhaps all that stuff with Apollo’s arrow, the eye of Jupiter, yada yada yada, were all set up by the humans (and/or the FF cylons then) as a way for them to contact the 13th tribe, you know, just in case. (Weird how the 13th tribe didn’t have a similar device to contact the 12 colonies, but anyhoo). It’s a real life GPS system created by the “Lords of Kobol”, who I assume are just the humans who lived on Kobol, as supposed to a real Lord/God of sort, who started the whole, hey we can’t work it out together, let’s make peace with that and live apart with the FF cylons, thing. But that’s my assumption.

Then after thousands of years of relative peace and harmony of the colonies, this whole manmade legitimate setup became folklore (so, some true parts, like the tomb of athena, etc, and some more myth-esque things, like the snakes and the dying leader - which could be just a symbol of danger as supposed to an actual dying leader, even though in the case of BSG, it did become true in the form of Roslin. But it really could have been any leader, because if he/she’s dying, it might signify enough cause to contact the 13th colony) and kind of became a myth altogether. (Kind of like how the 13th colony Earth was a myth until they actually found it and realized what it was) Doesn’t this kind of stuff happens a lot in humans? Like, children’s stories or folklore or myths (or religion, to a certain degree) that have a real historical story with actual historical figures behind it, but altered and changed as it passed on from generation to generation. And in the case of BSG, the whole very real history of Kobol humans and the FFcylons became the book of Pythia.

Anyway. I’m not the most articulate person around, so I hope you understand the gist of that. Also, just my theory, and definitely not hard fact by any shot.

ETA: Definitely not hard fact, because now I’m thinking, did Cavil say he had anything to do with the roadmarks (like the eye of jupiter, etc…) to finding earth? Hm. Which reminds me again, why did Starbuck know about the eye of jupiter, prior to her ‘resurrection/angel status’ (other than the whole Daniel theory)?
