So I have to convert my resume from .doc to .pdf format for some of the places I’m sending it to. I did this on the computer at work with no problem, and don’t remember how I did it. I updated my resume here on my home computer, so I need to convert again. Any plug-in recommendations?
Mac or PC? On a Mac, “Save as PDF” is built into the Print submenu. On a PC, I think you may have to install Adobe Acrobat. (Not the Acrobat Reader, which is free, but the full Acrobat, which is NOT free.)
If any of you PC users out there know a free (& legal) way to save a document as PDF, enlighten us.
Cute PDF is a free and will convert any file format to .pdf!
Thanks for the tips, everyone. I finally found something that works.
This place is like cha-cha.com, but free. And with people I trust. Anyone else got a random question they need answered? Consult the GWC hive mind.
I know you’ve already found a solution, but this is a particularly elegant solution that I recommend to anyone using Windows:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
It basically adds a virtual printer to your printer list. You can make a PDF out of anything that you can print. Instead of actually printing the document, you’ll be prompted to give a filename and location to save the PDF.
Try Nemo Word To PDF, it can help you convert document files to PDF easily with text, layouts, tables and images preserved accurately. And it also supports batch and partial conversion.
Google Docs allows you to save anything you create as a PDF. You can import .doc files easily as well. I only mention this because it saves you the step of installing anything on your computer.
with neweer versions of MS Office (2007 or above), all you need to so is click save as, and select pdf, and you are done…
I use a similar program called Bullzip PDF you can append to files and add watermarks etc…
