Re-connecting with my inner X-men geek

I grew up a rabid Uncanny X-men fan, and credit the comics for inspiring me to pursue a creative career and also for shaping much of my sense of aesthetic and style graphically. Sadly, I havent picked one up in many years.

My all time favorite X-men comic is number 183, when Colossus breaks up with Kitty and gets into a bar brawl with Juggernaut.

I came across this very issue in a bin at the con today and bought it. The stars were aligned, because an hour later I found myself having it signed by both the artist (John Romita jr) and the writer (Chris Claremont), plus Romita Sr. for good measure.

There was a sense of things coming full circle and it made my day

Wow. Awe-some!

Great story. I hear you. I was an avid X-Men throughout the 90s. I even went back spent tons of cash buying back issues from the 70s and 80s. I’ve since fallen out of touch with The X books shortly after the first movie came out.

It’s funny when the X-Men Legends vid games came out, they had a little quiz feature where you learn facts during the course of the game. I was playing with a buddy and he was very impressed that I was able to get like 90% of the answers right at the start of the game, due to my encyclopedic knowledge of the X-Men.
