I agree that creating an alternate timeline would have diluted the whole point of tying the BSG storyline into our own.
That ending would have been a hard pill to swallow, cept not a pill and not being swallowed.
Why does everyone who comments about the ending have to be negative?
I can’t speak for anyone else but I, for one, welcome our half-human half-Cylon overlords! 
from someone who hated it. Almost all the plotlines were tied up. What’s left can be attributed to god. In the tying up way it was very satisfying.
Also, it sets up Caprica very well. I can see a reversal on my part if they do the show properly–god or not.
I would have loved that ending…OMG I think that would have been great!!! I wish they had done enough of it to have that possible ending in the DVDs!
I liked the ending as is, but this alternate would have been fine for me as well. I certainly understand why they did not do it; it would have been a more muddy ending, IMHO.
RDM’s comments over on Skiffy’s boards were interesting reads.
visually it would have been pretty sweet (camera pulling back to see teh shape of the hiills adn knowing it’s galactica),but yeah…it may not have worked for storyline
I think the best part of this alternate theory is where RDM says it would’ve been an alternate 2009, as if he somehow believed he was telling ancient Earth history with BSG. It’s all “alternate” 2009, Ron.
I don’t know what you are talking about - he WAS telling ancient Earth history with BSG as far as I’m concerned. Silly…:rolleyes:
Technically it was alternate 150,000 years ago. Nothing that I could see was changed about how things are today.
That ending would have been pretty cool but i’d glad they delivered the ending they did. I really liked it. Perticularly attributating so much to god. Its always nice to have your belief in god strengthened by BSG.
My wife, who’s fairly religious, worries that i seem to take more faith in the cylon god than the one they talk about in church.
Back to my point:
The ending that we got left open the idea that a raptor or something like that might still be found.
I agree that it would be awesome to see a few of the alternate endings on the dvd.
