RDM on Starbuck (spoilers)

Original thread title: The collective dismay over daniel not being starbucks dad.

This has interested me because on multiple sites i’ve seem people throw their hands up and declare that without daniel ‘the artist’ to be starbucks father then she can’t be half cylon and therefore the whole thing makes no sense.

I disagree. and here’s where i’m coming from:

  1. The final five came from a planet of breeding cylons that had stopped resurrecting thousands of years ago. And yet even after all those generations of interbreeding, as soon as the five rebuilt the hardware necessary, and made copies of themselves, the genetic code for resurrection was still there. It worked.

they were bags of meat that humped and made more bags of meat but the code that allowed for transmitting themselves remained packed in there.

They looked up and saw their BROTHERS. not parents, or masters. Brothers. They were cylons, they had the same gods that the other 12 colonies had on Kobol. The gods on kobol were their creators… not gods, they were the masters. ALL 13 TRIBES were cylons.

  1. The 12 colonies bred for thousands of years the same way the 13th did, but the hardware is still there, just like the final five.

  2. So all someone would have to do is have resurrection working around the 12 colonies (it was) and they would have to have some of kara’s DNA to make a backup.(they did)

The big question is… who did it… and why. But what she is? She’s a cylon. They’re all cylons. Ron has said she’s not a “Cylon” and he can be perfectly honest in saying that, because the show makes a distinction. The 7 and the five are very different but share the term cylon as almost more of a political affiliation. just like none of the millions of people that died on earth are ‘the final cylon’ then kara thrace isn’t ‘the final cylon’ She’s not part of the mini pantheon the 5 have created. But it still doesn’t change her, or anyone else on the shows nature. Real humans vanished from the cycle long ago.

When was this explained in the show? If this is only from RDMs podcast this needs spoiler warnings all over it.

This thread might need a different title and a spoiler warning for those of us who’ve decided not to listen to RDM’s latest podcast until after the finale.

Didn’t realise that released podcasts were still considered spoilers. thought it would be similar to after the show airs its fair game.

Gaius confirmed Kara is human already.

Moore said that he looked on a bunch of sites and nobody knew how it would end, well the “everybody is cylons thorey” has been everywhere,I really doubt its going that way.

I just don’t know why people were so faithful in Daniel being Starbuck’s papa. I never bought it myself and was glad to see RDM debunk it.

There’s a very slippery slope BSG needs to be careful of in this last episode if they’re going to make all humans techincally Cylons (and it puts a lot of plot in the Lords of Kobol’s hands because the machines had to come from SOMETHING). The possibility of everyone being a hybrid is just distasteful to me, and form RDM’s podcasts and the Last Frakkin’ Special I just don’t see it. Being a Cylon should mean something, and while it’s definitely possible everyone has SOME Cylon, I think we’re adding too many pieces to our theories when I’m sure it’s something much more simple (excluding the weird Erfageddon, forgetful reztech tribe, and 2000-year sub-light jog over to the 12 colonies that apparently could be found by using Cy-Google Maps).

Has RDM ever lied in a podcast??? If Daniel’s not her dad then why is her supposed dad teaching her the Bob Cylon Dylan song? There is a reason she knows it and a reason it woke up the FF.

The only way I’m banking on her not being some sort of cylon is if she was cloned at the Farm for Cavil to use her later on to lead them around by the nose. Maybe something in the process of resurrecting for humans caused that song to lodge in their brains, or Ellen put it in there so they’d wake up (knowing that Cavil was going to do something) and it made Kara go crazy.

OMFGIDK; How did she see the basestar and paint it before it happened. Those strings are too damn big for Cavil to pull and no matter how duplicitous he’s been he’s not that powerful. I’m banking on a 5th player still.

That’s not to say Kara can’t have been impacted by the Lords of Kobol at some point. She is definitely what I want the most answers about. It also stands to reason that her father could have known he had to teach her some things without being Daniel or a Cylon himself; heck, her father’s entire existence could’ve been in her head from a certain point on.

oh for sure. to me thats the bigger mystery than the mundane “who’s her daddy?” and “whats kara thrace made of?” questions.

i’m not opposed to it, but i feel they are different questions. My line of thinking means it doesn’t matter who Starbucks father is. He could be daniel (RDM has said he is not) or he could be a regular colonial. I believe it doesn’t matter because the resurrection technology can tap into anyone on the show we’ve seen.

home grown humans have been out of the cycle for who knows how many passes.
