Razor Flashback #6 Frak Party

I didn’t see a thread for sode 6 yet so I figured I would start one. Just watched sode 6 and boy was that a let down from what happened in sode 5. The only redeeming part of sode 6 was the shot of that outside of the building that Adama was in. I am not sure and if someone freeze framed that shot correct me but it looked like a ship was taking off. It was only a small part of a ship but it looked like a Cylon Basestar from the current show again tell me if I’m wrong but that is what it looked like. To me the planet the young Adama crashed on was the Cylon test site for there next gen technology. Have a good en.

I thought the same thing. This sode just seemed like filler to me. At least we got to see who was behind the door. I thought it would be Leoben right up until they showed a clear shot of the guys face.

Here’s a screen cap of the ship that’s taking off outside. It’s not one of the new base stars that we’re used to seeing. But the styling looks much more like the new ships than the TOS ones we saw a couple of sodes ago. With all the body parts, the tank of goo and now ships that are starting to have the new style, it seems like this must be the time when the cylons were transitioning from TOS versions to what they are now. Its pretty sweet to see them tie the old and new series together this way.

My first thought was that they were launching the first ship with a hybrid controlling it. But what caught my eye was the girl in the cell.

First shot of her kinda resembles Six:

Second one…not so much:

Maybe she is to become a hybrid in the Cylon(z) tests.

Thanks! That’s what I get for being a day late and a dollar… you get the idea. I just moved your thread over and made it the official one.

Yes, I also thought it was Leoben and Six until they showed their faces more fully - if you ask me it would have been better if they had left us wondering . . . If they show Adama just a glimpse of Leoben, but not enough to conclude or rule out, then we could understand better what happened in the miniseries where Adama comes out and concludes “the cylons look like us now” in that mater of fact way that indicates that he isn’t really surprised.

My 2 cents

1.- from the photo, the ship kind of looks like a cross between the old-school and new Basestars.

2.- were the people in containment-

a.)Hybrids

b.) unfortunate colonials experimented on

c.)Skin jobs that didn’t meet quality control

    • the whole “RUN SAVE YOURSELF” bit seemed a little overly melodramatic.

In response to Lucky- I think all of the options about the people could apply. I was hoping for a young Tigh behind the door until I read all the posts naming Leoban, who seemed a much better choice. I think it could have been him, the voice sure sounded like him. I too was sort of let down by the 'sode. Hopefully we’ll see how Will escapes next week or in Razor. The name of the ship, Diana, is interesting. She is the huntress in mythology.

i too felt a little let down by this one, though i think it would have been really hard to maintain the energy and suspense of the last couple sodes. i agree that the building on the planet appears to be a base star.

it was interesting that the captured people (human guinea pigs) were from the ship the diana, goddess of the hunt (although it also sounded like guyana when i re-watched the sode). the second screen shot of the little girl makes me think of starbuck.

all of this - cycling makes me wonder if the cylons are now secretly working on a third generation of skinjobs…i sort of imagine a race of skinjobs made by cavil and simon (wouldn’t it be great if he turned out to be the mad cylon scientist?), to be even more ruthless than the significant seven. it seems that as the cylons progress, they are designed to be less human…despite their wishes to experience human emotions…and of the final five…were there others that were - boxed- so to speak…

maybe also we have a clue why adama does not remember this flashback until much later - the shame of leaving prisoners behind to die… or will the cylons alter his memory? still, i continue to find it hard to believe that NO ONE would have taken him seriously if he told what he saw…
or are the colonials behind this- trying to outsmart the cylons? a new race of super fighting soldiers?

this lack of new info in the sode is just leading me down paths of wild speculation…

[QUOTE=suzanne;5776] are the colonials behind this- trying to outsmart the cylons? a new race of super fighting soldiers?

[QUOTE]

a very interesting idea!

My feeling on “the people behind the door”… They both resemble, loosely, six and Leoben. SO… maybe they are the people that leoben and six are based on … with some genetic material added and removed to improve on the end product.

It makes sense that the cylon would take a human as a base model, but then improve on each version, stronger, smarter, better looking…

Although that raises questions about what would have happened to Brother Cavel…

Interesting. I saw this girl and didn’t think “Six,” I thought, “Kara!” But that’s not Katee Sackhoff. So, hmmm…

Generally, I agree that this was not as exciting a 'sode as the last three or so, but it poses some questions, which is cool. I also thought the ship they’re on was a modern basestar, so it could be that this planet was, indeed, the R&D planet for new Cylon technology or something, and now that the colonial fleet has discovered it they’re having to move the operation elsewhere.

Fascinating…

I think that the people on the diana- the ship that the people behind the door were captured from- will be the first human form cylons, precursors of either the final five, or the significant seven…

From a little reading about diana online- she represents youthful feminity and a lot of danger, she represents fertility, while being unable to bear children herself, she protects the young – this sounds a lot like caprica six/head six and her obsession with the “child” she and baltar are to bear via sharon and helo….and also the way the cylons have to protect themselves – humanity’s children – from humanity.

also- that the diana was a gemenon ship is significant. maybe the religiosity that the cylons feel occurs because they were descended from gemenon people, who took scripture literally. perhaps when the cylon personality/consciousness is imprinted on the human (modified?) brain, it cannot completely overwrite all human characteristics and beliefs…

I remember seeing the fourth 'sode and thinking that the building Babydama was falling into was shaped awfully like a modern Basestar, but I shrugged it off. Guess I shouldn’t have.

I checked the credits for the 'sodes on the Skiffy website, and it doesn’t list anyone as the Girl Behind the Door. I looked up the actor they credited as the Hybrid, Campbell Lane, and found a male actor with credits ranging all the way back to an alien voice on Babylon 5. No picture, though, so maybe he’s just a voice actor. I was under the impression till now that all the Hybrids were female, but maybe that voice Babydama hears was Mr. Lane as a early male Hybrid.

Good screen caps, Gryper.

Yeah I thought it was Six and then the next shot of her I switched to Starbuck. But once I went back and captured them I could see that it was neither one but with some resemblance to both.

I checked the credits too thinking that the girl would be the listing for the Hybrid. I think you’re right about his voice being the one voice saying “all this has happened before…etc” cause that doesn’t really sound like EOJ to me.

And thanks, I love the capture feature in Paint Shop Pro!

I second the thanks for the screen caps!

You’re welcome! That image just kept buggin me so I captured them to view longer than the fraction of a second they were on the screen.
