Razor Flashback #5 Frak Party

Wow – this 'sode asks as many questions as it answers! Does anyone else think we just saw “toaster” Cylons creating the flesh Cylons?

In the immortal words of Neo: “Whoa.”

Looks like young Adama found a lab where they are doing work on how to make the “skin jobs.”

Did anyone notice when he pulled away from the tub the voice saying “this has all happened before and it will happen again” is the exact same voice we hear in one of the trailers for Razor?

Yes, I did! That was awesome! I’m also calling it right now that the person on the other side of that door is an early Leoben.

This explains so much for me. I always thought in the miniseries that Adama was a little quick to jump to the conclusion that Leoben was a Cylon. Up till then, as far we knew, no one had ever known the Cylons as anything but toasters. This now hints that Adama may have known something a long time ago, and the incident at Ragnar Station in the mini finally brought it all home for him. This foreknowledge could also add to the guilt he felt in “Hero”, when he was worried that his prior actions had instigated the attack.

That said, L’il Adama could use some training in horror movie rules. ie: Never set your gun down. Never stick your hand in something if you don’t know where it came from. And never keep your hand in there while gazing at the horror around you, because something can and will grab you. (Did anyone notice that the hand that grabbed him seemed to just suddenly disappear rather than retreat into the goo? An editing trick, or another puzzle?)

best “sode” yet. adama really should not open that door…

was all that screaming - out loud - or in his head when he put his hand in the goo? it seemed to me it was in his head, the reaction of the cylons to adama’s hand in the goo…which seems to allow downloadiing/communication of some sort between the cylons. i think he is hearing people or cylons dying-are the first skin jobs grown from cells- like cloned bodies- or people captured and modified or killed and reanimated in a frankenstein like way.

loved the body parts in the lab…so creepy!

i am guessing that no-one will believe him about this when he gets back…otherwise they would not have been so taken by surprise years later.

i just realized that putting his hand in the goo made him see - or project the people/cylons that were in those empty cages…

i agree that adama was quick to realize leoban was a cylon, and i guess now we know why, even if it is not a leoban behind that door. but the guilt adama felt in hero always seemed like a device to me. i believe he felt guilt over leaving his friend behind, but the attacks…he would have known that that would not have caused them. if he really does feel guilt that he may have some responisbility for the attacks, i think it is related to what he finds out here.

As well as the hand that “grabbed” him.

I’m thinking that the goo and the “water computer interface” are more closely related than we’ve realized.

… creepy in a good way. I was going to ask what model was behind the door, and I think Glimfeather’s right: I bet a quarter it’s a Leoben. After the second watch, I think everyone’s right: BabyDama just had those horrific flashes because he (somewhat inexplicably) decided to put his hand in the goo, which had was some kind of interface/goo-bath hybrid. Which apparently is so powerful that it conducts through space gloves. (But hey. Expediency and suspension of disbelief…)

Ugh, all that flesh-machine-cage stuff was creepy. And did I mention creepy?

Also, as I long as I’m here, do I understand correctly that NONE of these sodes will be part of the broadcast version of Razor?

And since I was on the road last night I will have to wait a little while until I can pull it up from Skiffy’s site.

hey, didn’t six once tell baltar that she talked to him out of courtesy- i thought that they had some telepathic ability-tied into their ability to create projections- this was during season 3, while baltar was on board the cylon base star…

maybe the traumatic experience of the goo-rebirth makes the communication more vivid…or the gloves are not goo-proof?

so does this mean adama is NOT the final cylon?

What if some of Babydama’s DNA winds up getting used in the skin jobs, and THAT’S what Leoben meant when he said “Adama’s a Cylon.”

Intriguing. Most intriguing…

So say we all.

it was intriguing but did anyone feel like nothing happen in this one. The other ones seemed like each 2 minutes wer like 5 mins. This one felt like it was 30 seconds

I’m not saying it actually happened this way, but I just had a flash of Leoben downloading in a goo tank, waking up to a room full of fellow cyclons, then smiling and saying, “I told them that Adama was a Cylon! HA!”

And they all have a good laugh.

I have not seen Calum Keith Rennie in any of the credit listings although Matthew Bennett apparently shows up again as Aaron Doral. A terrified man is listed by the name of Ben Cotton which I presume is this guy?

At least I could play the clip back on Skiffy’s site…which was a doubtful proposition originally…

So say we all.

I’m not sure I agree. I think both voices are distorted and brief enough as to leave it vague. But I definitely guessed Leoben, maybe because this whole story is reminiscent of the Ragnar Station incident.

On the contrary, this was my favorite one yet. After the first two, which were nothing but setup, I feel like we’re following Babydama deep into an intriguing mystery, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Aw, yeah…

Blast it, I guess I lose a quarter. The Ben Cotton guy looks fairly generic. I wonder if he’s an early experiment or what. I kinda wish they hadn’t listed the credits before the last 'sode (though I understand the legal reasons, especially in light of the strike); seeing Doral and the Hybrid in the cast list kinda spoiled it for me.

So say we all.

i thought it was an early leoben model too, behind the door.
so does this mean that doral is the voice? i really wanted to believe it was leoban, since it fits his philosophical musings.

interesting that lil’ adama finds this lab where skinjobs are being created, but later on- why all the surprise that cylons look like humans? clearly, something funny is going on…adama introduces the idea that cylons look like humans in the mini-series, and he does not explain it at all. it was news to roslyn too.

i look forward to learning more about how the humanoid cylons were created. still, there must be a human scientist behind all this. given the subtlety (and bad aim!) of the original centurions, i don’t see them working in the lab. and they would rust from the goo.

Yeah, first thing I’d do when entering a lab full of partial human(?) remains is to stick my hand in the big vat of mysterious fluid.

If we do end up seeing an “original” Leoben, or whoever, that would be a dramatic change in the backstory, as RDM has repeatedly said that the models were not based on any specific individual, but that they were basic “types.”
