The old centurions, in an odd way, also seem like they have more “human” reactions (I can’t quite call them “emotions”) than the new toasters, too; I never felt any kind of emotional response for the new centurions, but I almost felt something for this old one, maybe because we briefly saw things from his perspective.
I suppose it kind of makes sense that the old centurions have more human-like qualities, maybe even something like blood, since they’re the ones that are trying so hard to be human that they eventually create the twelve humanoid cylon models. These guys are sentient, and the new ones are not (yet, at least), and they “grew up” under the influence of the humans that they were created/enslaved by, so weird as it sounds, it would make sense for them to be more psychologically, and maybe even more biologically, advanced than the new centurions (if you define the word “advanced” as being more human-like, a definition which at least Brother Cavil would definitely call into question…).
