Random thoughts on LOST

Thanks for clearing this up.

Him with his booze and the classical music playing in the backgroound was hilarious. And The Elizabeth, yeah, she’ll be important for a looong time.

Watch and learn, until the end of Season 6.
Maybe the Islanders were followers of the deity Homer Simpson.

Just some white sky, crazy noises, a polar station, and Penny waking up from a phone call. Totally normal for LOST. LOL
Do you understand now, what the very last scene meant?

Congrats!!

Looks like that. Ethan is doing the handiwork, muffins are burning and “Downtown” playing on the CD player.

Like Sam Jackson?

What, everything in the episode or something specific, like that Kate isn’t Mr. Friendly’s “type”?

But … but … Michael voice They have my son!

Actually, the unofficial fan name for it is “New Otherton”

And if you don’t mind being slightly spoiled on one upcoming episode (which has a flashback to the time of the plane crash), you’ll like this video a lot:

Yup, just like you didn’t expect season 2 to involve a Dharma Initiative, and just like you won’t expect season 4 to involve …

Just wanted to warn you that, since you are starting on season 3, you are about to hit the worst part of the series. Things are going to drag an wander aimlessly for a bit but don’t give up. When you hit an episode involving Jack and his tattoos, you will know you have hit the bottom. When you hit a certain episode involving Desmond (you’ll know it when you see it) the show will kick into high gear and will never look back.

I thought we agreed to forget that episode ever existed and never talk about it again!

But in all seriousness, the episode immediately following is one of my favorite Hurley-centric episodes and works as a good chaser for it

Any thots on the addition of Niki and Paulo in season 3? Many folks didn’t like them randomly promoting log-carrying guys to the foreground but I don’t hate Niki & Paulo. Besides… Lando!

That someone off the island has been looking for it and now knows where they are? Or am I missing more?

LOL! Thanks for the warning.

So you’re saying it’s reeeealy bad then. Like ‘Woman King’ bad?

I haven’t met Niki and Paulo yet. When do they get introduced? I’m watching S3E3 ‘Further Instructions’ right now.

I kinda enjoy seeing Locke unable to speak. And I also enjoyed seeing Desmond briefly running around naked in the jungle.

Seeing Boone again is nice. He is a bit creepy now tho. I guess death can do that to you.

Oh and…

Fish biscuits will always be funny to me.

Mr Eko got dragged off by a polar bear? really?

How many jobs has Locke had? Mr. Friendly knows Locke?

“So…like the hatch…blew off your underwear.”

Bwahahaha!

Okay they just introduced Niki and Paulo. Who the heck are they?

There is something weird about Desmond. Did that blast in the hatch do something weird to him. He knows about things before they happen now?

Hi! I’m fairly new to this forum. Lost is my favorite show and I think your thread is fantastic. I some family hooked on the show during season 4 and we did a rewatch and I enjoyed their excitement when they first saw certain episodes. It’s a great ride!

Oh you finally met the infamous Nikki and Paulo who magically appear in Season 3. I asked the same question at first, Who are they? Just watch some more episodes…

Desmond runs around the jungle naked, of course there is something weird about him.

Ooh. You’re coming up on one of my favorite episodes. Season 3 Episode 8.

No further comment until you get there

Actually, looking through the episode list of season 3 I’m seeing a lot of episodes and themes that I enjoyed. I suspect that I’m not one of the people who dislikes season 3. I’d have to rewatch to be sure. Hmmm. I do have a weekend to myself coming up…

I only dislike about the first 1/4, maybe 1/3 of season 3. I could be specific as to story but I’d rather not considering this thread. I think part of the problem for me with Season 3 was with how it aired live and it took rewatching on DVD to cure me of most of my dislike but not all. Still, Season 3 has some great episodes in it especially towards the end.

Wait for it … wait for it …

Nope, that’s pretty much all you know until you get further along in the show

So you’re saying it’s reeeealy bad then. Like ‘Woman King’ bad?

Yeah, that would be a fair comparison. Many consider it to be their least favorite episode of the entire series.

Part of people’s dislike of season 3 comes from the way it was originally aired. The first six episodes aired in September/October. Then there was a several month hiatus. When the show started back up in February or March it was with a bunch of “filler” episodes that really didn’t go anywhere.

So fans had gotten a taste of the season, then had to wait, then had no payoff after the wait. This prompted a lot of dislike.

And the season did wander for a bit. TPTB have said that they knew where they wanted to go with the show but couldn’t because they didn’t know how long the show would air and so couldn’t start moving in their intended direction. Thus the somewhat aimless episodes. They finally negotiated a fixed number of remaining episodes with ABC and, knowing when their endpoint would be, were able to focus the show on what they wanted to do. That’s when it kicked into high gear.

Funny, before you responded, I was deliberating to post the same quote!

Not looking for the Island, more for Desmond. And that the present outer world is still existing. Before we only saw it in flashbacks.

Like the others () said…just wait for it.

Nikki and Paulo were a case of the creators giving the fans what they said they wanted. As you no doubt have noticed by now, other than the main castaways and the Others, there are lots of other people (often called log-carriers) milling about in the background. The fans said they wanted to know more about some of the background characters (who, in reality, were little more than glorified extras), and so we got Nikki and Paulo. Exactly how these statuesque models managed to go unnoticed in the background was never explained, of course.

Funny how the fans got what they asked for and then promptly hated it.
