Thanks for keeping us up to date, Operator! I really enjoyed The Hunger Games and Catching Fire (the third book, Mockingjay, left me about as depressed as the end of BSG and suffered from the same problems, imo–too hopeless and a few too many plot tatters to really hang together). I have always been strenuously ambivalent about the movie. It could be AMAZEBALLS but most likely… they’re not going for an R rating and I just don’t understand how you can do the books justice without one. Plus, Katniss will be difficult to translate to the screen because so much of her character is revealed through her internal monologue. But I want it to be a great movie, y’know?

All that said, this teaser footage is so empty. It wasn’t even really impressionistic! Still reserving judgment for a longer trailer and then the movie itself. But this is not, I fear, a good sign.

A little late on this, but I had to say – nervous? If this is accurate, I’m LIVID. The whole appeal of the book was the view from the aftermath, and the social, political, cultural and psychological impact of the zom-pocalypse as seen the way few writers have even thought about, let alone penned – “what now?”

To push the whole film back into the ‘present tense’ literally tears the heart out of the book, and frankly I’m disgusted that Pitt, who practically championed the optioning of the book in the first place for his own production company long before taking on the created role, allowed this bastardization to happen. sigh

I guess money talks, and zombies walk. Er…shuffle. Amble. Stumble? Crawl, most likely.

It could be worse. They could have M Night Smalamalamadingdong direct it.

Ok…remember that scene is RotJ when Vader throw the Emperor over the side? Now remember that scene in RotS when Vader screamed “NOOOO” and you cringed? Well, guess what we get on the Blu Ray edition of RotJ/

Yeah…

was really hoping this was rumor, but it diesnt look like it…

I think I’ll just get the extended edition of LotR. When Lucas release the 3D versions, he’s gonna add more bonus material available anyway. d:

I’m unsurprised. WWZ was amazing, but done in the oral history style… which just doesn’t translate well to film, unless it’s documentary. How can you tell from the aftermath without a lot of boring voiceover or flashback memories to portray the action the characters are recalling? I wish that WWZ sounded like an amazing and faithful (not slavishly faithful, just loyal) adaptation of one of my favorite books, but I am completely unsurprised that it sounds like a hot mess.

Sorry, I shouldn’t be such a pessimist.

There is still an amazing piece of work in the world that didn’t exist before. And to bring it alive a bit more, there’s an awesome audiobook version. I’m happy with those.

So not only did Netflix get more expensive (like 60% more)

But Starz won’t renew thier content deal (no Netflix show for YOU!)
http://www.deadline.com/2011/09/starz-wont-renew-content-deal-with-netflix/

Yeah, but their current deal with Starz doesn’t end until February. That’s 6 months away, and no one takes a deal off the table 6 months out. It’s likely a negotiating tactic.

Have you seen/heard about current US politics? d:

I was referring to people without governmental cranio-rectal dysfunction.

Film being worked on by Ron Howard called “364”. Basically, if you had superpowers for one day out of the year…what would you do the other 364?

Regarding the Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie. Rumor also has it that Nine Inch Nails founder and His Holy Hotness, Trent Reznor may have a cameo.

My inner Goth-Fangirl swoons.
