Seoul Warns of Latest North Korean Threat: An Army of Online Gaming Hackers
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/05/world/asia/05korea.html?_r=3
“Despite its decrepit economy, North Korea is believed to train an army of computer programmers and hackers. The police in Seoul said Thursday that four South Koreans and a Korean-Chinese had been arrested on charges of drawing on that army to organize a hacking squad of 30 young video gaming experts.”
Because apparently it’s too hard to come up with a totally original IP and story.
Disney to give Snow White story new spin

"According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s oldest fairy tale is getting a Far East reworking for their upcoming movie.
Say goodbye to those silly dwarves – the “Order of the Seven” will be a warrior-focused version of the legend, in which an English woman goes to Hong Kong for her father’s funeral and meets a band of seven international fighters. Upon realizing her evil stepmother is plotting her murder, she turns to the warriors for protection."
Evidently, nobody puts Baby in the corner, cuz there will be a reboot of Dirty Dancing…

Why doesn’t Syfy air their series when normal network shows show repeats like they used to? Their shows got an audience and lasted longer.

Star Trek resort to open in Jordan…
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20090345-1/star-trek-resort-coming-soon/
Is this different from the previously posted Star Trek Resort in the middle East? I think the other one was going to be in Dubai…
Will it have lots of grossly uneccessary ‘lens flares’…
Wow, I was surprised about the production value and the accuracy.
“You just won the chess championship. What are you going to do next?”
“I’m going to Star Trek Land!!”
I might be tempted if I didn’t fear middle east airport security. Who knows what they’ll find wrong with my cart…
No MUDs? No Habitat?
I’m curious what definition of MMO would exclude Habitat, but keep, e.g., D&D Online.
DDO is a MMO. If it wasn’t then LotRO isn’t. If LotRO isn’t, then WoW isn’t.
Are you thinking of a different DDO?

This may explain it better…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphical_MUD#Graphical_MUDs
"Graphical MUDs
A graphical MUD is a MUD that uses computer graphics to represent parts of the virtual world and its visitors.[57] A prominent early graphical MUD was Habitat, written by Randy Farmer and Chip Morningstar for Lucasfilm in 1985.[58] Graphical MUDs require players to download a special client and the game’s artwork. They range from simply enhancing the user interface to simulating 3D worlds with visual spatial relationships and customized avatar appearances.
Games such as Meridian 59, EverQuest, Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot were routinely called graphical MUDs in their earlier years.[59][60][61][62] RuneScape was actually originally intended to be a text-based MUD, but graphics were added very early in development.[63][64] However, with the increase in computing power and Internet connectivity during the late nineties, and the shift of online gaming to the mass market, the term “graphical MUD” fell out of favor, being replaced by MMORPG, Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, a term coined by Richard Garriott in 1997.[65]"
Right, so Habitat was a graphical MUD which is an MMORPG, which is an MMO.
Except the chart starts at 1996, not 1986. d: And, Richard Garriott didn’t invent the term until 1997 (according to wiki).
