CCP and Nexon Announce Strategic Partnership for Eve Online in Japan
http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4647&tid=1

“CCP and Nexon Co., Ltd. today announced an agreement to bring a fully localized game client and product services for CCP’s award winning science fiction virtual world experience, EVE Online, to Japan this fall.”

I, for one, welcome our new Japanese overlords.

Plus, here’s a new trailer seemingly released in conjunction with the announcement.

My Crom that was a good trailer. Felt like Day of Darkness II. But, I feel like he forgot to say, “Game over, man. Game over!”

ALRIGHT!! A movie that I am really looking forward to even more now. Thanks to my Uncle, I must have read the series hundreds of times growing up. I was excited upon seeing the still shots, now I am fired up. Hopefully this gets good returns and they can do some more!!

News like that is enough to make a grown man weep. How is this show getting a second season when SGU, Caprica,… I give up!!!

Different network…different rules (IMHO)

TNT is very different from a more niche cable channel like SyFy(llus), Falling Skies seems perfect for an audience that wants a show with only a touch of SciFi. Something that does not require a lot from the viewer in terms of learning a lot about a new world and the rules and technology that go with it.

Falling Skies takes place on present day Earth, which makes the setting more familiar and less fantastical than an alien world. And the characters are everyday people thrust into an unusual situation, no superpowers or wacky technology are introduced right away so there is an easy learning curve for the viewer. Plus the show is very good about balancing the action with character relationships and good familial bonds. The writing is pretty sound and the action is believable and not over the top, the characters seem to be the focus and not the invasion itself which makes it a good fit on a channel that prides itself on character driven shows.

SGU ‘nuked the fridge’ very early for me and besides it never felt like a Stargate show to me, the dynamic was all wrong. It had none of the humor that was so important to the first two series and there were no likable characters for me, therefore there was no emotional investment for me. And if I do not care what happens to anyone there is no reason to watch. And so I stopped.

Caprica came at a bad time for me so I never got into it. I will probably burn through it in the near future watching it on DVD. Which is my usual M.O. anyways, I hate watching TV so I usually watch everything either online or on DVD.

Today is the first anniversary of the discovery of Neptune — in Neptune years

“July 11, 2011 marks the first full orbit of the planet Neptune since its discovery on the night of September 23-24, 1846. The discovery of Neptune is a fascinating story, full of near misses and the triumph of math.”

Mila Kunis Confesses: ‘I’m A Massive Trekkie’

Hey, don’t know if anyone else saw this, but just got an email from Netflix as of 01 Sept, there is an unlimited streaming plan for just $7.99.

Yeah and a 1-dvd-at-a-time plan for $7.99. I got an email too.

The best* part is, the 1-dvd-plus-streaming that I currently pay $9.99 for is going up to 15.98 (7.99 + 7.99).

I know, it’s still a (small) fraction of the cost of cable but still. I almost never watch streaming Netflix. For me it was a very small bonus and barely worth the $2 I was paying. Literally. Last month I think I paid $1 per Stargate Universe episode I watched on it.

*By Best, I mean Worst

I feel your pain, though reversed. We watch streaming everyday, but sometimes the thing I wanna watch is DVD only. It’s very infuriating. I wish there was a competitor for me to take my business too.

I have ten limited time only invites for Zediva. But, their streaming offering is limited and only for movies (until MPAA shuts them down d: ).

Suits my needs though unlike Netflix.

if true, it is proof that there is a god … and she wants us to be happy

New Evil Dead Happening!

http://www.darkhorse.com/Blog/495/mass-effect-invasion-announced-digital-extravaganz

Good news: Looks like Bioware is offering its Mass Effect comic series for free for the next 24 hours (I think)

Bad News: The site seems to have crashed from all the use.

Is that the “determine all the choices you would have made if you’d played ME1” comic?

If so, it figures. I’m just landing on Ilos for the final mission in my Paragon playthrough, which is probably the last time I’ll ever touch ME1.

new meaning to “using your noodle”.
