I’ve had a feeling for a while though…

WHO: Cell phone use can increase possible cancer risk
http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/05/31/who.cell.phones/index.html

"Radiation from cell phones can possibly cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization. The agency now lists mobile phone use in the same “carcinogenic hazard” category as lead, engine exhaust and chloroform.

Before its announcement Tuesday, WHO had assured consumers that no adverse health effects had been established."

Cell phone use can also increase your risk of being punched in the head while in line at Starbuck’s.

Just to put this into perspective, this puts it into the same WHO category that includes coffee and pickled vegetables. I.e., not much.

the force is strong in this one

Actually not exactly. From what I can tell, being around lead isn’t the problem, it’s ingesting it. Same with exhaust and chloroform, but those are harder to be around without ingesting.

So just don’t eat your cell phone, folks, and you’ll be okay.

See Slate’s piece on this. Pike beat me to this criticism, but: echo.

New Trek game is comin’

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/new-star-trek-video-game-194738

“legendary enemy” hmmmmmm

When I read legendary enemy my first thought was KHAAAAAAAAAN! but it says legendary enemy race, so maybe Romulans?

Playing Kirk and or Spock? Even when I was RPGing back with the old FASA game I never was even tempted to want to do that. For some reason I found that too Fanboyish even in the 80’s.

We wanted to leave our own mark on the galaxy.

Of course if truth be told we hated the Federation and only played the Klingon Empire. But that was just us, KA’PLA!

Since it is AbramTrek it is not even tempting to me… I would rather play KOTOR.

Even if it’s distributed by EA?

I guess I may pass on that as well… Not a fan of MMO’s anyways, but since it was Bioware and I loved KOTOR I was willing to give it a try… sigh oh well… I guess I will spend my money on something else.

Trion Worlds and Syfy to debut Defiance at E3 2011
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/trion-worlds-and-syfy-to-debut-defiance-at-e3-2011/
“The game – an action-based shooter that will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 – will be set in the San Francisco Bay Area, whereas the TV series will take place around St. Louis, Missouri. Both, however, take place on the same conflict-torn future Earth where humans and aliens coexist, though whether they do so peacefully or not remains to be seen.”

Of course there is. It costs $15 an episode to produce and 47 billion people watch it.
