From the most recent Emipre mag…

For the next Batman
Nolan still hasn’t officially signed on to direct the next “Batman” and he says its due to workload -

His brother Jonah is currently working on the script and Nolan is excited about it because he “particularly like(s) where we are taking the characters and what the ending is… There are things for me to be very excited about in addressing the characters again.”

He once again confirmed that the film will essentially be the capper of a trilogy rather than a random third entry - “the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story.”

He “emphatically and unhesitatingly” said we will NOT see the return of The Joker with someone else taking on the late Heath Ledger’s role

On a Crossover
What about a DC style superhero teacup project? No chance. “Superman is very specifically superpowered and obviously otherworldly; Batman is very human and flawed… there’s an elemental feeling of power in the iconography of those characters. To me that’s originally because they stood alone. I need to hang on to that in my imagining of them.”

Superman
Nolan says David Goyer pitched him a new approach to the Man of Steel one day, and Nolan “thought it was really tremendous. It was the first time I had been able to conceive of how you would address Superman in a modern context.”

He took that idea to Warners, they liked it and now “It’s something we were just trying to put together a vision for, and then find the right person to take it forward… it’s not something for me to direct.”

Let me know if this looks as familiar to you as it did to me-

To me, it looks like whatever was on top will slowly be digested over 1,000 years…

"Dragon Age anime-ting in 2011

EA and BioWare team with FUNimation on cartoon based on dark fantasy action RPG franchise, due for release next year."

So, ME gets a movie, but DAO gets an anime. I’m not sure which got the better deal…

A Mortal Kombat remake. When I first heard of this months ago I thought, “Why? This franchise is long dead…” They must be planning a game release along with the movie, is all I can figure.

The trailer looks pretty darned good I must say. I was a fan of the first movie even though I never liked fighting games, I thought it was a very fun ‘guilty pleasure’, it never took itself too seriously and had lots of humor and action in it. The second one however… I could only watch a few minutes of it, it was soooo bad.

There are a few notable names in the credits, and the production quality is higher than average, so they must be taking this release seriously. I hope it is not another ‘Legend of Chun Li’ groan.

Andy Whitfield has been cleared to return to Blood and Sand

Am I the only person to notice that there is no Karate in the new ‘Karate Kid’ remake? WTF!?!

(If there is it must be the bad guys using it, in which case… why even bother reusing the original title?)

Cultural cache. You think all the 80’s kids who loved that movie are going to go watch Jackie Chan and the Smith kid without the title there?

ETA: Definitely down for more Mortal Kombat. Looks like they are taking it a little more serious, sounds good to me. Not sure how they are going to do fatalities without the supernatural aspect tho, oh well.

District 9 and Moon are both on netflix streaming now.

It is finally here! A fitness club that can help you survive the Zombie Apocolypse, no I am not kidding… Click the link to see their home page-

I bet they got the idea from Zombieland, remember the bit about how important cardio is? Anyways I think it is a really cool idea.

This looks like it would be a blast after a few drinks… OK. A number of drinks, it is silly and unnecessarily gory. Great stuff!

That. Is. Awesome.

looks to see if there is a Phoenix chapter

Green Lantern 2 already in the works.

No you are not the only one - I’m highly annoyed by that fact and have been telling anyone who will listen just how stupid I think it is to call the movie Karate Kid, yet set in in China and have the kid learn Kung Fu.

Really Will Smith? Really?

Seems a bit premature. I don’t think a GL movie will do well. Doesn’t seem to have the same mass appeal.

Same for Flash even though he’s one of my favorite super heroes.

The Kung Fu Kid doesn’t have the same ring to it?

I dunno. Scott Pilgrim has even less, but I expect it to go over like gangbusters (unless they really screw something up.)

Well if they were going to make a a GL movie right now is the best time. Darkest Night has been one of DC’s best selling events and was critically acclaimed. It got lots of press so GL is on a high note and it makes sense to do one while he is still relevant. Green lighting a second might have been a mistake.

Totally, same with Iron Man. Heck, even fewer people knew about Iron Man than Green Lantern, and that movie didn’t make any money.

The Sarcasm is strong in this one…

Seriously though, I figured Iron Man to be more popular than GL. Plus, it had RDJ in the lead. And, Ryan Reynolds is no RDJ.

But, I could be wrong. I wouldn’t mind in either case since I’ve read DC more than Marvel.
