Behold! The retro gaming force is strong with this one-of-a-kind R2-D2 replica by PopSci reader Brian De Vitis. The Star Wars droid was meticulously built from a cooler and houses no less than seven discontinued game consoles, a sound system, and a projector.

That is awesome! It also doesnt seem like a very difficult project. May have to see if I can find some old consoles…

We all assumed Princess Leia was putting the Death Star plans onto R2 when caught by the Stormtroopers aboard the ill-fated Tantive IV. In fact, she had emailed those to R2 hours earlier and was instead simply trying to delete her Xbox Live account and other gamer tags so imperial n00bs wouldn’t screw up her rankings when they inevitably fired up a console.

I want it so bad.

I would have no place to put it or the metric ton of controllers coming out of it. I’ma also sure my son would knock it over and break it in five minutes. Still, if you’ve got a room that can accomodate it, awesome!

Though I’d rather have modern consoles, since most old games of merit are avilable on them. Hook up a 360, a PS3, a PS2, and a Wii and you’re set.

I flipped out when I saw that last night (and I have no idea why I didnt post it…) but yeah. It was epic to say the least!
