So, I have an I-pod shuffle (the little cute one! it’s green!) that I use to listen to podcasts and music. Well, I’ve finally gotten sick of it not actually updating the play counts of the stuff on it. Meaning: it keeps telling me the last time I played anything was September 18 2008. I’m not sure why. Anyways, I have the most recent version of itunes for Windows and none of their other basic troubleshooting stuff really seems to apply to this problem. I have the most recent version of whatever ipod software thing it has, too. I’d appreciate any suggestions - not that it’s a huge deal, but it has been over nine months since it updated, and I don’t think it’s supposed to do that.
Hey Cas,
I can find any current literature on this, but here are a few links:
A few things to try:
-
When the shuffle is plugged in, click, “Check for updates” in iTunes to ensure you have the most recent firmware
-
A few sites seem to indicate that it makes a difference if the shuffle is set to “Shuffle” as opposed to play. You may want to try that.
Can you let us know exactly which shuffle you have? That will help focus the discussion and let us look for info targetted to your exact cute green shuffle.
One reference I found said that you have to have the “last Played” colum turned on in Itunes. You can click on “view” in toolbar and then “view options” and check the box next to last played. then Sync your Ipod and it should start working after that.
let us know.
Thanks for the suggestions. When I plug it in next I’ll check up on a few things. But I have the 2 GB, I think it’s 2nd generation (I bought it in early 2008)?
There should be a unique identifier on the back of it you can take a look at. Let us know what that is and we will be ready to roll.
