Question for you hardcore Ds9 fans.

How many Jem Haddar do you think it would take to take Data in hand to hand combat?

I think it would take many. I am thinking River Tam in that room with all those dead reavers at the end of Serenity.

hand to hand? or in a shoot out like in Serenity?

In the ring on the prison ship? Like Woof* and Martok?

Data easily. He’s an android. He won’t tire and has super strength. Not a contest. I don’t think the Jem’Hadar would find any honor in it.

*intentional spelling error. thanx for laughing.

i think in a shoot out, like in Serenity, Data might lose. He isn’t especially agile when it comes to those situations and he isn’t phaser/blaster proof.

But hand to hand it will have to be Data… even if the enemy has swords or other hand weapons and Data is barehand.

Not agile, huh?

I know Data would win in a hand to hand fight. I asked how many jem Hadar would it take to take him down. Not one at a time… he never tires. He would defeat their race. If Data was droped into a ring ( or an arena) with Jem Hadar how many would it take to take him down?

I am thinking that without ranged weapons ( give the Jem Hadar blade mellee weapons), it might would really depend on weather or not Data was willing to kill from the start. If he wasn’t willing to kill… I think that 10 Jem hadar might could take him down. That seems low, but remember that one Jem Hadar commander is about equal to Worf. One of those guys could get a good shot in on him from behind. ( Cutiing an arm off really makes it hard to fight back.)

If Data was willing to kill at first I would think that it would take about 30 guys.

In the end… data would be trying to escape the whole time. He wouldn’t sit and just fight. He would have a “Data” way to get out of it. Maybe if he had to fight to save Picard or Geordi’s lives.

A more fair question would be how many would Lore take down. He would fight them for the fun of it. And would kill many many of them.

if it’s a close quarter mellee with a swarm of Jemhadar without energy weapons, isn’t it hard to actually damage Data? I know he has a layer of artificial flesh that can be easily damaged. But underneath, Data is literally the man of steel, no? I don’t think knife/swords/batleth is capable of chopping data’s arm off. Or am i mistaken?

Data can move quick I suppose. But he just doesn’t seem to have the ability to wipe out a swarm of enemies charging at him with enegy weapons, like what River Tam did. Maybe if someone uploads him with some software and have him wake up and exclaim “I know kungfu”… then he probably can do it.

Now, I know for sure it only takes 1 jedi to take down Data.

Important note for Chuckstorians: “Mr. Woof” is a joke started by Majel Barrett as Lwaxana Troi in TNG. I, on the other hand, like to (as Audra regularly points out) pronounce the word “wolf” as “woof” – originally on accident, but now often on purpose because a) it makes “Wolf Brand Chili” take on a fun, irreverent meaning, and b) it makes Audra happy.

Two thots on this subject:

[li]Data is likely to find a way out of the fight as stated above.[/li][li]How many did the Vorta send?[/li][/ol]

that’s my question. It’s not “will data win?”

The question is “How many would it take to defeat him ( or Lore) ?” ( if it came down to a life or death… with no “tacheyon emmision” way of winning)

We’re assuming the Jem’Hadar don’t know about his off switch, right?

oh snap…

Probably around 50. (No one else has given an actual number)

I’m no expert at fighting styles or strategy, so I’m going to use a football metaphor for my analysis - which is odd since I’m no expert at football either.

Anyway I’m going to assume the Jem’Hadar know they can’t take Data on in hand to hand so they’ll just bum rush him from all sides at once.

Figure Data can lift 1 ton, to be safe I’ll say he can lift 2 tons or 4,000 pounds. Assuming that each Jem’Hadar weighs about 200 lbs that means about 20 Jem’Hadar.

I’ve got a better question…how many Datas would it would it take defeat Dikta?

Riiiiight, Chuck, it’s on purpose. Gotcha. Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more.
