Psycho Ellen?

Ellen’s quest for children doesn’t just seem to be a life-long desire; to me it seems to be an obsession. I mean an obsession like that of the women who cut babies out of pregnant women and try to raise them as their own. I love Ellen, but she really seem psycho about the whole children thing (even with the way she treats her own creations).

Also, I would not be surprised at all if we find out that the Sixes were modeled after Ellen - body and personality. Six has always been the one obsessed with babies as well. One of the first things we see her doing is adoring a baby, but then killing it (which I believe was to spare it). Six, in my opinion, was absolutely modeled after Ellen.

as the show progresses, im thinkn this is more and more possible… maybe thats another reason ellen was SO (sorry barb’d) off…ellen wasnt too mad about saul’s lover being their creation(children), but she was mad bcuz tigh just upgraded to a younger model…

?? or im just rambling

She is psycho from what they’ve put on screen. I’m not sure, however, if that’s what the writers intended. But as far as I’m concerned that’s what they wrote!

You’re definitely right about the similarities between Ellen and Six. I agree, and they’ve kind of eased us into that with Tigh’s flashes of Ellen’s face while looking at Caprica 6. But I suppose it’s just more retconning at this point. We know the Six character(s) was written before Ellen was of any importance.

I get the feeling that Ellen is going to be the one who kills Cavill at which point there’ll be some maternal conversation where she tells him why a “better machine” is a childish idea etc…

Anyone every heard of the Greek Tragedy “Oedipus the King”, by Sophocles?

OBVIOUS REFERENCES!!!

Cavill made amny refernces to this play in a roundabout way…starting at new caprica.

*Sleeps with his maternal figure and mother has no Idea who she is (Reference to her past life that was erased from memory)

*Rips out an eye of his father, tries to kill his father…

*THen makes reference to wanting to have new eyes… Oedipus ripped his own eyes out of his head and wandered the desert for the rest of his life…all because of incest.

there is alot of Eye Gouging and wandering thru the expanse of the universe here…

I know it is not exact…but hey…I do believe Sophocles has a copyright on the story.

Somehow I always managed to avoid Oedipus Rex which is what we called it back when I was in school. I knew about the incest part which is famous far beyond the story it came from. But I didn’t know about the eye! I would note, however, that it was a Doral who took out Tigh’s eye in a deleted or unaired scene I saw somewhere. But I see how it fits.

The writers kind of take what feels right from different legends and myths. It’s slightly Old Testment here, slightly Greek tragedy there. You can usually pin it down partially but never completely.

Yep, I know. Speaking of ancient languages, did you know that in Sanskrit one of the words for ‘lotus’ is kamala? I think the show spells its herb a little differently but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s from the same word. After all, we know they like Sanskrit on the show as (I think) Elosha’s prayer in the miniseries was in Sanskrit.

And going even further out on a tangent with Sanskrit…the word for ‘tiger’ is vyaghra, as soon as I learned that I immediately saw through Pfizer’s marketing plans.:wink:

Well Col. Tigh had an eye ripped out. Oedipus killed his father…Frakked his mother, then ripped out his own eyes…then Wandered the desert for eternity…

So you see, He tortured his “FATHER FIGURE”, Frakked his “MOTHER FIGURE” then made refernce to his own “IMPERFECT EYES”

It is a good Story though…

Side note, JASON and the Argonauts…Jason was betrothed to Antigone, Oedipus’ daughter with his mother…

Plus, they are praying to Greek gods in the story…It fits for me anyway…

I would not be surprised if Cavill rips out his own eyes in his hatred of being a meat bag. I could see him snap and get rid of his balls of goo.

I see Ellen as a woman who is upset that she cannot have children. We know the 13th could procreate, but Ellen and Tigh never managed to, so maybe something is physically wrong with Ellen? It happens in real life that some women cant have children and become very distraught about it.

All of that’s true, but think about this…if her infertility was only a medical issue then they could’ve fixed that when they created new bodies for themselves (or any time thereafter). After all, manufacturing and maturing a living organism as in “resurrection” shows complete mastery of genetics, medicine, biochemistry etc…

thats a great question, why wouldnt they fix it??? what if its bcuz ellen was born and her “code” was corrupt?? just like humans, if both parents have a faulty gene/ or the same faulty gene(code) birth defects happen. couldnt it “naturally” b that ellen cant have childeren??? and maybe its something she cant, or doesnt know how to change??? maybe thats y shes so frakkin mad???

Yes it could be that, but it would lack some internal logic if the writers do that. If she knows how to recreate her own body she can make a few changes. If she can’t it would be like Toyota knowing how to make an automobile but not how to change its color, or its give it a cd player instead of a tape deck. It just wouldn’t make any sense.

But the RDM/Espenson seem unconcerned about quality after last week’s Babystar Galactica episode, so who knows (running and ducking!)

i see what u mean… but like anders said, it took all 5 of them 4 resurection… and ellen made the intuitive leap… but what if she(ellen) was so obsessed with her own fertility, she couldnt make that(fertility) leap…
