Presidential Election Frak Party

Well said !!

BTW, love your avatar, and the lovely parasol.

Pretty moving election for me. In 1860, Republican nominee Illinois Senator Abraham Lincoln was elected president. During his administration he faced a nation divided in war over slavery of the blacks and freed them with the Emancipation Proclimation. Unfortunately he was assinated in office. Now in 2008, Democratic nominee Illinois Senator Barak Obama is elected the first black (well the media skips over that he’s half African, half white) president.

For someone like me born in Lincoln, Illinois, a town named for and christened by then Circuit Court Judge Abraham Lincoln…this election’s result has a certain symmetry to it. It feels like a circle has been completed.

I hope that President Elect Obama can now help us start to restore the ideals and principles of America that have been ignored and start to earn back some of the respect we’ve lost from other nations over the last 8 years.

You’ve seen scores plotting against McCain supporters? Scores!?
Dang Steve, where do you hang out?
(Sounds like Boston when the Yankees used to trounce the Sox.)
I, on the other hand, have actually heard Obama supporters honestly suggest that he might somehow include McCain in his administration.
I don’t see how that could work, but I applaud the sentiment.
From what he’s been saying (and how he’s been saying it), I feel strongly that our President-Elect will be able work across the isle and mend many of the divisive fences that the current administration has erected.

(…or is that dismantle the fences? Frak, I’m mixing metaphors again.)

Always the die-hard cynical one, ready to piss in everyone else’s froot loops.

I’d go see that movie.

PMP. Seriously! What a schmo.

I just gotta pause for a minute, and appreciate the wonders of today’s technology.
Last night I was on airplane, but because it was JetBlue (they’ve got those TV screens on the back of the seats) I didn’t miss a minute of the election coverage.
And then on the way home from the airport I listened to CNN via satellite radio (I actually missed an exit when it was 11 pm and they called the Election for Obama).
I got to hear McCain’s concession speech in th car, and was home in bed in time to watch Obama’s victory speech.
An amazing night.

Yeah, now that it is the morning and I got to sleep happily… aaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

When I went to bed last night they were saying 8 had passed (in CA), but now they say it’s too close to call.

But South Dakota voted no on Prop 11, so there is at least that for us progressives…

That’s really cool

Today I just feel like singing!

So Say We Can.

Well said. Thank you.

I know what you mean. I was in Honolulu, San Francisco & Seattle last night, all at the same time, through the help of a bit of technology. Awesome.

Walking in the streets of NY last night was really an amazing experience: people dancing and singing. Reminded me of this:

Yorick, thanks for the 2 You Tube clips. Both are awesome.

There are also some great pictures on one of my favorite blog: The Big Picture

I’ve got this song stuck in my head today being all reflective and shit. So now I’m linking to a clip and stick it in yours so I’m not alone.
