Yes,
I love the fact that I read the MRSP of the trilogy was $159 or $169 then two weeks later Amazon is listing pre-orders for $99.
I am waiting for a price reduction for Stargate SGU on Bluray, saw it good before Christmas, seems to have gone up now…
You win at Blu-ray
I don’t have any.
I don’t own a Blu-ray player.
Once I do, my first purchases will be:
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 1
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 3
Hm…average jump in picture quality, I’d say. The details are definitely a lot more intricate and beautiful, colors are more vibrant, sound seems better, but the big space Firefly stuff gets a bit mucky and grainy, as regular tv special effects from a decade ago tend to be on blu-ray. Serenity the blu-ray I think had a bigger jump in picture quality. That movie looked great on BR. (still waiting for it to fall to 10 bucks or under to buy myself).
On the plus side, there’s an extra audio commentary (Fillion, Tudyk, Glass and maybe Whedon, I think? I haven’t listened to this commentary in a while) on Our Mrs Reynolds, and they are awesome, as usual, and there’s this hilariously weird “firefly reunion roundtable” where the four guys have a meal together and discuss Firefly. All fun to watch. And BR packaging are much smaller and way less hefty without bells and whistles, so I do love tv shows on BR.
Conclusion: I bought the BR because one of the discs on my DVD set didn’t work on my player sporadically, so it was a necessity. (Can’t have a home without a functioning set of Firefly! And I gave away my sorta working DVDs to a friend, always good to spread Firefly joy. :D) And it was on sale at the time, so it was I think 28 bucks? (who knows, maybe it’s even cheaper now).
Well it is not as impressive as some collections I have seen, but I have a Plasma and upgraded my receiver to the HD standards, and the sound and picture is worth the price of upgrades.
I can’t wait to see what the Star Wars trilogy ( times 2) look like, but I will wait and see before buying them. I wanted to “upgrade” my Star Trek movies to Bluray, but I hear that the picture quality of the individual movies varies (I think I heard that Star Trek TWOK is the best one).
Not many!
Pacific
How to Train Your Dragon
Goonies 25th Anniversary
and 1 more I can’t remember.
I have a pretty wide collection of Bluray movies, you can check it out @ dvdaficiando

Yeah so much easier to post the link to my online listing, contains both DVD and Blu-ray but you’ll get the idea. Currently ripping all my DVD’s onto the NAS to free up shelf space for Blu-rays:)
