She was being manipulative, sure, but it didn’t follow that she was up to anything more sinister than getting off her backwater planet, and possible scoring a captain for a hubby. Mal dealing with that could easily have been the entire story. I was almost disappointed that she went all space pirate ninja.
I was fooled. And I’ll go further by saying had it been me she could have fooled me a second time… and a third and…
I would be in the special hell too. I was fooled from the first shot of her till the moment Mal went on the deck.
Totally fooled. My thought was that she’s going to end up dieing at the end because they can’t keep her in the series and the Captain won’t end the episode being married. I don’t remember seeing any clues that might have tipped it off before she kissed Reynolds.
If I were Mal, I don’t think I’d have made it through that last scene with Saffron in the cabin.
