Planet of the Apes (1968) 1/16 @ 1 PM ET

Like the Star Wars films, I feel the music in this is another character.

Not as shocked as people were when it first came out!

Aren’t the scarecrows supposed to be warning people from going the other direction?

Never gave it a second thot.

Yep, but Taylor doesn’t know that.

Holy craaap!! It’s Monkeys on horseback!!!

Um, Avatar stole its plot from this film.

Perhaps “shocked” is the wrong word. :stuck_out_tongue:

Linda Harrison was dating one of the producers from the show. See, it’s all about who you know.

BTW, as someone who grew up in a mostly rural area, the very idea of running through a cornfield with uncovered skin is scary. Those leaves are sharp!

I love how the aftermath of the hunt was so similar to big game hunts from the turn of the (last) century.

Yes it is and notice not many scratches or cuts from it too.

In the novel, the Apes are all equal. The producers were creating an allegory on racism so it was important to create a caste system for the Ape society.

Jacobs (the producer) hired a journalist friend as one of the ape soldiers in the background for that scene. Jacobs often did that for his films, to ensure they would write a good review.

“Man is a nuisance.”

Are you looking for an argument? You won’t get one from me.

It’s good to be “Bright Eyes”.

Roddy McDowell and Kim Hunter make the series, they are awesome in those masks.

That was a Kirk judo chop!

OK, so WWJTKD?

“That man can be domesticated.”

HAHA!

Hasn’t happened so far.
