yeh like wtf is going on?? i liked the first one cause it was a pretty straightford story with all the elements that suck me right in (TWO really cute guys, pirates, sword fights, laughs, and ends with a kiss) part two disappointed me cause she kissed jack for whatever reason, which left me feeling squicky cause it was totally like she cheated on WILL and then i had to let that whole thing fester for a YEAR until it was resolved in part three??? real life has enough of that kinda stuff, i don’t go to this kind of movie for that kind of drama!! and while i enjoy the performances of the actor who played will’s father in previous roles, i thought for sure they’d have someone who looked a lot more like will (say orlando bloom??) cause he “was the spittin image of bootstrap bill” and those two actors look nothing alike…the part three comes along and while the visual effects were outstanding, and i liked certain aspects/ideas they were going for, it didn’t flow quite as nicely as the first one…so let me explain…no no…there is too much…let me sum up…pirates the first GOOD…other two NOT SO GOOD…imo and i’m not the most demanding movie watcher…i mean i found the good in THE CORE…c’mon!!
I love these films… over on another forum i was trying to figure out my favorite trilogy of all time and i can to the conclusion all in all this was my favorite. It beat out LOTR and both SW trilogies. so you have my vote.
I resisted this franchise for a reason which is no longer clear to me. I recently saw them all on DVD, and really liked the first one but was dissapointed in the last two, especially that scene with Jack Sparrow in the other universe or whatever it was, can’t remember now
I bet you’d have some fun with this Arc… I didn’t think the last two are as disappointing as some have said. The first was just so original and such a surprise that there was a Pirate move that was actually GOOD!
It’s one of those flicks that no matter what part I jump in on, I’m stuck til it’s over…
Oooh, good suggestion! I personally would love to see the podcasts extend more into fantasy (Lord of the Rings is the other obvious suggestion) but it’s Chuseandra’s choice what they want to spend their Friday nights gabbing about.
Thought I’d give this a bump up as I absolutely love these films. Especially the third one. I know, it gets alot of crap, and I understand why. But upon re-watching it a few times, and finally understanding it… I find it an absolutely amazing movie, fantastic music by hans zimmer, and the best visual effects. Hey it was the most expensive movie ever made. And there’s definitely enough material to discuss. Savy?
my vote also would go to a LOTR arc, or an Ocean’s arc:-)
