Who is planning to come to this great event on Jan 23-25th.? I’m volunteering and both childrenAz wiil be there too. Anyone want to plan a meetup at the event?
I bought my Full Pass yesterday so I’m game!
I have never been to one. Perhaps I’ll have to make this my first.
Extra bonus–its in Mesa so no big deal traveling. Might as well get the full deal. Interesting lineup–wish there was more BSG but if you liked Buck Rogers in the 25th Spandex you’ll have a treat. Chewie and Data too!
Glad to see some GWCers will be there. Let’s see if anyone else steps out of the woodwork and then we’ll make plans. I’m figuring before or after Aaron Douglas on Saturday would be good.
Sounds good to me.
Found this over at AaronDouglasFan’s Live Journal and thought I would share:

If you got to this:
10pm - MOTHER FUCKING ROCK BAND BITCHES YEAH! \m/
This should be a lot of fun: I’ll play with three people at a time, taking whatever instrument they don’t want to play. We’re supposed to be there for an hour, but once we start rocking, we’ll be there until they pry our fake instruments from our cold, dead hands. There’s a very good chance Yuri and Aaron will join us for a song or two. Also, if all of this isn’t filmed and put online, I don’t know why we even bothered to fight the Spanish American war, people.
Please, please, please video it if Aaron ends up singing or playing. Aaron apparently has a very good singing voice. Michelle (who runs AaronDouglasFans(dot)com) and I and several others I know would love you forever.
Schweet!!! I will totally bring my HD cam and see what I can’t get.
That would be awesome. I have never had the chance to see him sing, but I hear he is pretty good.
And if you need somewhere to host the file I am sure Michelle could put it out on AaronDouglasFans.com
I was just going to post it to YouTube, but that would be totally EPIC!
Aaron Douglas is speaking from 1-2 p.m. in the Palo Verde rooms on Saturday, Jan. 24th. I say we meet right outside the room and sit together. Buck Rodgers ends at 12:45 in the same room. I’ll probably go to that, so if they don’t kick me out of the room, I’ll save seats. Otherwise I’ll meet you outside the room.
How many will be there and what will you be wearing? I’ll have on my Zoe (she looks like a Bratz doll) white T-shirt. Can’t wait to see everyone.
Anyone else interested in the Nerf Blaster war? It’s BYOB.
I’ll be wearing a long sleeve dark green shirt with a blue North Face backpack. I might have some fake gore on my face, I don’t know if I want to go with the Zombie Apocolypse warrior look yet.
I hate to be the “sux I can’t make it” person on this thread, but…
Sucks. I can’t make it.
I’ve been trolling Kayak, Farecast, etc. hoping to snag some last-minute tix for Audra and myself, but no luck. I’ll say this, though: if one or more of you don’t call in from the convention I’ll be disappointed.
And hey, if any of you are there when Chase Masterson is present, it’d mean a lot to everyone in the community if you’d support her in any way you can – including passing on to her the community’s thanks for her kindnesses over the last years. There’s a screening of her film Yesterday Was A Lie on Sunday the 25th at noon at the con which I wish I could attend. I’d totally make some time for it if you can. One day we’re going to arrange a Dallas showing – or plan some travel – so we can check it out.
And you can, of course, fanboy with Wil Wheaton for me. (One day we’ll convince him to guest on the show.)
Aaron Douglas is going to be in Dallas the week before the meetup, BTW, but you’ll get to hear him this weekend. He was a hoot when we heard him here last year. My guess is that he’ll be less spoileriffic this time, but no less animated. Woot!
I say go for it. Where else can you look like that and blend in perfectly?
I had a great time at my first Con! Aaron Douglas was so friendly and nice. He told us he wasn’t thrilled with who the final cylon was until he learned the complete mythos of the FF and now he loves it. Says we’ll all be happy with the ending.
I have to say the best moment was meeting Chase Masterson. I am not a Trek person and only know her from GWC, but I followed Chuck’s instructions and introduced myself to her. I said how we all love her here at GWC and thanked her again for the event tickets that bkitty and Lady D used. She had no idea yet that they did get the tickets and was thrilled to hear my report on their adventures, including the RDM phone conversation. She was so excited for us. I’m sure I sounded like a complete idiot when I was with her. She is a lovely woman inside and out and I am smitten with her.
Best line I overheard while walking around- “Look! They have gas masks over there!”
Event pass- $30
Lunch- $15
Asking a vendor if she had a Jayne hat and she knew what I was saying (and had one)- priceless
Here’s Chase and I-
