While it’s generally considered Fantasy, the Dragonriders of Pern actually has a firm foundation in Science Fiction.
Any thoughts on this series as a subject of a podcast?
I’ve only been listening since #184 or so, so I don’t know if it’s already been done… 
I’m not sure about a podcast arc, but there are a number of times the Pern books have come up in discussion on the forum (just search “pern” and a bunch of threads will come up). I loved them when I was younger, and I still have great affection for some of the characters, but they don’t age well for me. Nonetheless, they were really important to me as a teenager. Who wouldn’t want a dragon? 
I love the Pern books. Sure at the first few books seem like fantasy, it defiantly becomes a sci-fi series. I suggested it when the book club started ages ago, but it’s such a huge series it wouldn’t really lend itself to a group read.
I have a few pern books. I never got into the series however, it was just too gorram boring. I need my dragons to be gigantic devouring menaces not personal taxis.
