Just wondering about some ideas for good pc rpg games. I’m in a bit of a gaming funk. Nothing too old, as I have been spoiled by the modern graphics. Nothing rougher than, say, Oblivion.
I have played and enjoyed Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fable (the first), the Witcher, Bio Shock.
Any ideas?
I really enjoyed the first two ‘Knights of the Old Republic’ games…
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic is a great Tactical/Turn based and/or Diablo style RPG. It has an awesome story that allows you to use Steam Punk level weapons or Sword and Sorcery types. Its a bit old about 7 years or so but it still looks really good. Also you can get it on Good ole Games for like 6 bucks.. Its one of the better RPG games I have ever played story wise.
By that measure fallout or fallout 2 could work as well. Fallout 2 is a bit more accessible then the first though. Planescape Torment might also work. I LOVE THAT GAME. Combat is not that great but I love the villain.
If you liked Oblivion, try Morrowind. It’s a great game. While I think the map is smaller than Oblivion it seemed a lot bigger to me, probably because you can only fast travel to and from certain cities. Not like in Oblivion where you can fast travel everywhere. While it doesn’t look as pretty, I think it’s a better game
Also I agree with the suggestion about Knights of the Old Republic.
agreed, if you haven’t played them, you should give them a try. but chances are you have already played them 
Well, life sucked me away for awhile, but I’m back.
These are great ideas, none of which I’ve tried!! I guess I will have to consider sellers other than the local game shop, which doesn’t carry any of these. (Except the older Fallouts, I think. They seem to have come out again.)
I really did want to try Knights of the Old Republic, but that’s not on offer in the stores. Same story with Morrowind.
Time to branch out to the scary internet, I guess.
BTW, I was considering Boarderlands as I might be able to convince my husband to try it and it appears we can play together. Any thoughts. The box does suggest it is RPG shooter.
Off to search Amazon to see if they carry older games.
Don’t go into borderlands looking for a deep and rewarding story. Its a great game, 2 people makes it better, if you can scrounge up a couple more its even more fun.
