One jump away?!?!

Let me get this straight. Presumbly the Galactica is still relatively near Earf, since we haven’t seen much traveling and the Galactica has been unable to jump for quite a few episodes.

Now the Cylon homeworld colony is one jump away?!

Did the Cylons go in one big circle when they were following the fleet umpteen jumps to find Earf?

(Possible retcon: jumps aren’t necessarily more difficult the farther away they take you. There’s some kind of “hyperspace” geography that determines how far you can jump. Maybe Earf and the Cylon homeworld are physically far away but for some reason that long jump can be made… maybe the influence of the black hole, so that Cylon basestars are always one jump away from home?)

I don’t think we know how many jumps (how far away) Galactica has made since landing on Erf.

I was under the impression that the Cylon Home World is near the colonies but Hera and the Cavil/Boomer are at Ellen’s colony which was jumped to a new location.

I think with the Cylon updates to the FLT and with Anders being basically the Galactica Hybrid, they might using Anders make there in just a jump or two.

This. Cavil moved the Colony.

The CYLonz homeworld is the CYLONmatrix :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s sometimes hard to catch how much time has passed between episodes on BSG, but last week on “Islanded In a Stream of Stars”, Starbuck said they’d been jumping for weeks looking for a new planet. So they’re probably way out there. Plus, when Boomer was complaining to Hera during their escape in the Raptor, she said something like it was another 12 jumps before they could finally reach the Colony because the Raptor’s FTL wasn’t upgraded with Cylon tech. So the Colony’s pretty far out there. I don’t think the Fleet is anywhere near Erf at this point.

Yes. the raptor had to make many jumps because the Raptor’s FTL was not upgraded. the Galactica’s has been upgraded so ONE jump,(if thats what the story needs it to be.)

The upgrades, Anders AND the fact that the base star could do the calculations means that they’ll probably only need one jump - like when Athena helped Starbuck get back to Caprica, sure they did many jumps but they used the calculations from the raider’s salvaged FTL to give calculations to all the raptors.

Yes, this has been my impression.

Being able to tell what kind of timeline we’re operating in has been the most difficult part of BSG for me by far. These two episodes are back to back, this one is two months later.

God bless the Hive Mind! Thanks for making me realize my assumptions were invalid… I firmly believe that’s the best thing you can ever teach anyone.
