One of the Weeping Angel statues from Doctor Who catches up with Firefly’s Jewel Staite in a corridor off the lobby of the Hyatt Regency during Dragon*Con.
Wait, so Jewel dresses like that normally?
The key word in the OP is "DragonCon." I’d say that’s pretty normal for DC, no? 
BTW: Is it just me, or is Ms. Staite gaining a little weight? Personally I thought she looked a little thin when I saw her a year or so back. I think the little extra really looks great on her. (And don’t mean this bad in any way! She’s appeared very healthy all along!)

She is, and she does. I was a bit taken aback when I saw her super skinny (although she apparently had to gain weight for Firefly(!))
I’ve had a similar reaction to Scarlett Johansson. She was much better looking before she became “Hollywood Hot.”
When was this? Two years ago?

I think it may have been. I know there were some very good Weeping angels the last time I was at D*C (in 2008), and I an pretty sure Jewel was there that year too…Not that I was able to get into any of the Firefly panels since you had to stand in line 2 hours and there were always right after the BSG panels or at the same time as the TW panels (and those were more important to me)
I saw that Angel! An amazing costume.
That was my one DragonCon trip so far. I actually ended up standing behind Jewel Staite in the line in the ladies room after the Monday morning Stargate panel. (Which was the only panel I saw her on, because I also had other panel priorities that won over the crazy line wrapped around the hotel block.) She’s so tiny!
It’s odd being starstruck waiting for a bathroom stall. Almost everyone politely ignored her & Morena Baccarin, but was obviously squeeing inside to be so close to Firefly folks.
