Of Gods and Men

Talos’ Gorn fetish yesterday got me in to a ST mood. I’m catching up with New Voyages and I just finished finally watching the 40th tribute movie Of Gods and Men. I have to say that I was thoroughly surprised with the quality of the film. I’m usually stifling laughter when I watch New Voyages, but this movie wasn’t so bad. I guess that’s because they got so many ST alumni to do the flick. Although, it was hilarious to watch Nichols and Koeng try to out act each other at times. I thought it was funny to see the Original BSG Boomer in the film too. Speaking of BSG is it me or did Russ totally rip off RIS BSG’s shaky cam style? All and all I highly recommend checking the movie out if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s like a watching a new episode of Star Trek.

Star Trek Of Gods and Men

I thought Captain Ben Harriman was supposed to be a joke, based on the events of Generations. Seeing him as a respectable character seems misplaced and forced.

BSG didn’t invent shaky cam. I thought it was interesting to see a Star Trek-ian show that used it, although I wasn’t terribly impressed with this one.

Yes I know, but there were a few weak snap zoom pull backs that made me think of BSG.

Thanks for the recomendation.
I’ve had the St New Voyagers episode “World and Time Enough” on my iPod for months, but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet.

That one’s OK, but “In Harm’s Way” is their best one (IMNSHO.)

actually they all ripped me off of my shaky cam style…

they had shaky cam style on of gods and men because… they didn’t have a lot of the stuff or crew. So it’s spontanous shakyness, as opposed to bsg’s planned shakyness.

They had a lot of pros on that crew. Any shakiness was intentional, I’m quite sure.

BTW, you guys that don’t know. Of Gods and Men is pretty cool. Someone brought this up in another thread and I thought that I needed to put out a OF gods and men thread.

It’'s a little better after a drink or two. After I loosen up… I can get over the main charcacters not being the original actors. The secondary characters are great and there are a few Trek profesional actor roles in the episodes.

But the scripts are great and the sets and effects rule. Pike turned me on to them a few months back and I am hooked! We have to wait too long between episodes… almost like bsg!

Duplicate threads merged.

I tried to watch it… but I just couldn’t get into it… I thought it was just a bad idea in general.
