Hello all, I know that I have been posting for about a heart beat, an normally that might intimidate me, but this is GWC and “we don’t Do that sort of Thing.”

So my $0.02.

Forget Mars 2112. It is a tourist trap, and while I would be happy to show Chuck and Sean the few sights I know, I would like to think that this event would be more about personal interaction than shtick. Don’t get me wrong, Mars 2112 is certainly something I want to do someday, I just don’t think we should try to sacrifice conversation for an decor that could go from cool to annoying. The flip side could be that the place really is empty, the music is not too loud (I never like to have to shout to be heard) and we are able to take over a whole corner to ourselves.

I would also vote against Inside Park. It is a beautiful place, and while the restaurant may be limited, what they do serve is really good. It is also not an enclosed space that can get too loud. The primary worry I have is weather, even if it does not rain (it is not supposed to, 20% chance according to TWC) it is still supposed to be 80 degrees at 9 p.m. and I have to expect it to be quite muggy. The flip side is the humidity could break, and it be absolutely beautiful while we watch the city go by.

I would prefer Aston’s to either of these, and Muldoon’s to Aston’s. I love a nice Pub, and I really love an Irish Pub.

Sorry for being so long-winded, but I figured if I was going to argue against such great suggestions, (I had thought of suggesting Mars 2112 myself) I at least owed Solai a few minutes of typing for all the effort he has put into an event that he cannot even go to. Where ever the consensus is, I will be there with bells on, so when the tally comes through, let me know.

I am really looking forward to this, and if anybody needs help with any kind of parakeet op. I can bring the black hoods and zip-ties.

Well, one of the Trinity has spoken. Plus everyone seemed to be leaning in this direction anyway.

As someone who has had to wrangle groups in the past, I recommend one person volunteer to be the point person in terms of communications for the “just in case” clause…as one never knows. Ashton’s could have a kitchen fire and suddenly a bunch of people who have never met and may not have arrived need to coordinate where to move the par-tay.

I would also recommend never publishing one’s cell phone in a public place…so whoever volunteers should PM everyone how has indicated they are attending with the info.

I just called and they said they have a party set at 6pm for 16 people. I wonder if that’s us. Probably not. I’ll call later when the waiter is in and maybe set something up. Just so we’re not left in the cold…hot…whutever.

I am torn between Hyper-Rage and switching to the Dark Side so I can use the Force Lightening. My “Powers To Be” are starting me tonight, not tomorrow, so I will have to bow out while gritting my teeth and plotting horrible accidents befall those who pay me.

Frak-nuts.

I am sorry that I will not be able to come tonight, but I don’t want y’all to think that you are getting off this easy. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I hope that you have a great time tonight. At the very least I now have a few more bars to try in the city.

Please don’t be strangers, but when I don’t answer for a month (I’m going on location tonight) don’t hold it against me either. Hit me up when you next decide to get together.

I called Astons and they said there is a private party at 6pm. My guess is that’s not us. I know I didn’t call and I’m not sure who might have. Anyway, we could still meet there and then move on to somewhere else to eat or what not.

All my worry for naught. I was late to the party but the XY portion of the GWC trinity were already at Ashtons and having fun.

It was a great time meeting Chuck and Sean and fellow forum members, in the flesh. You really are the coolest people. I spent most of the night talking to Closing Time, who seriously has to join up and skip that Skiffy crowd :smiley: I sat next to DarkTerritory who has been a fan of BSG since the days of the campy fun. I hope he’ll take the time to share with the rest of the forum his adventures of lore.

At one time during the night, the table split into two factions. Chuck and Yorick (the rocket scientist, literally) AND Sean and the rest of us. I don’t know what Chuck and Yorick were talking about since I was on the other side of the table, probably the re-entry vector for the viper simulator. I can’t say. But Sean and us were engaged in a deep speculation about…yeah…you guessed it…stupid and asinine wanderings. Good times.

I wish I could share more but I filled my tank with scotch and…well…y’know. Things get fuzzy after that.
