NYC Meetups

OFFICIAL MEETING OF THE NYC CRÜE

Overview:
I went and scoped out the area. Suzanne’s suggestion is a good one…cute little deli right next to the Park, and far enough away from 59th that it isn’t too stupidly crowded.

Schedule:
11:45-12:00 - Arrive at Bread Soul Cafe, 63rd and Broadway, east side of the street. Place order or simply hang out with food you have brought. Our secret phrase is: Audra sent me

12:00-12:05 - Head into Park to spot indicated on the map. Next to ball field in the stands so we can sit 5 or more comfortably and not have to wander around trying to figure out where to sit down.

12:05 - 1:00 - Laugh, be merry, make various crank calls to the GWC hotline.

1:00ish - For those who want and can, head down to 49th and Broadway to take a picture of the crüe next to the famous Boxy BSG poster.

Sound like a plan? Looking forward to it.

Looking forward to, also. See y’all then.

me too. see you there.

Hey all

i sure i hope i can come - getting away from the office mid-afternoon for that long is a tough thing to pull off right now but i’ll do my best. don’t wanna miss it!

SS

Ok gang. Here is the scoop:

There is a chance that there will be rain tomorrow. If it is, here is the backup plan:

11:45-12:00 - Arrive at the shops at Columbus Circle, 59th and Broadway in the lobby. There are two massive statues in the lobby, I’ll be standing by the one on the right. I’ll be wearing a red cap and a brown coat

Our secret phrase is: Audra sent me

12:00-12:05 - Head into Whole Foods and obtain tasty food.

12:05 - 1:00 - Laugh, be merry, make various crank calls to the GWC hotline.

1:00ish - For those who want and can, head down to 49th and Broadway to take a picture of the crüe next to the famous Boxy BSG poster.

See you there, Solai.

I’ll be there too

i’ll be there too…

though I’m sure I needn’t remind you (Solai being the shutterbug that he is):

Pictures, please!!!

Damn. I had every intention of driving down for this, however my babysitter isn’t available and my three year old hates BSG talk, as well as long car rides. Frak !
Wish I was there. Have fun all !

Darn it, if I didn’t have to work today I would take the train in :(, but alas I most of my vacation has been sucked up by weddings and my London Trip.

Well hopefully we can have a Philly Crue/NYC Chapter meet-up at somepoint.

Although if I have Solai and Yorick in one place talking I may not be able not be able to handle it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have camera, will travel.

We wish you were here too. Is what a remarkable gesture that you would drive all the way down for this. Catch you next time

Sounds like a great plan! Wish you could have come up.

Ok guys, looks like we are a go for outside meetup (knock on wood).

See you in a few hours!

I have just returned the NYC GWC Chapter meetup, and as expected our fellow GWCers are awesome. It was funny to have to introduce yourself to people you already know a lot about yet are technically strangers. In fairly short order we were talking like old friends.

It is hard to choose my favorite moment…
[ul]
[li]The discovery that the sandwiches we had purchased were literally bigger than our heads[/li][li]The realization that if Yorick works at NASA…and is an engineer…that makes him a Rocket Scientist[/li][li]The group was asked, “Who would you have a geekgasm over if you met them?” and most notably we all said that frakkintalos had to exclude William Shatner. After five minutes he looked at us and said, “I’ve got nothing.”[/ul]Thank you all for coming. It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to our next meetup. Perhaps we can get Stevie to do more than, “call it in.” Suz, Yorick, frakintalos…you made my day.[/li]
Oh…and for frakkintalos’ daughter…this one is going out to you:

It was a whole lotta fun. It’s always great to meet new people especially when you know them so well. Ah…yeah…

BTW, I still got nothing.

Looking forward to seeing the photo taken of the crew by the Asian tourist, there’s a cliche. Speaking of cliche, it was a typical day in Central Park. Cyclist flying through, gymnasts performing cartwheels, nannies sleeping while their employers elite children run rampant, yet strangely no screaming homeless. Odd that. I’m usually a magnet for that.

I had a really great time too, nothing like a picnic in the sun in the middle of Central Park to recharge your batteries during a work day (well that and a lot of coffee too)

Here is the crüe:

So who is who?

frakkintalos Yorick Suzanne Solai

i thought i was going to be added via photoshop! boo! oh well next time =)

We didn’t need to Photoshop you in Stevie…you were in the next shot, remember?
