Nuke launch

I am sure that racetrack was ded, or maybe just barely alive, but she looked ded. I thought it was a bit cheesy the was she happened to be oriented when the nukes launched.

But i guess that must have been the god thingy at werk!!

Uh her raptor got hit by an asteroid which turned it and knocked her arm. The nukes were already programmed to go certain places thus the “Let’s go hot” scene which allowed her dead hand to launch them.

No, Skulls got taken out. She was in bad shape, but it wasn’t her dead hand hitting the button.

Huh. The last thing Racetrack found was the “Fire” button.

I’m watching it again, she’s definitely dead. The Raptor is spinning slowly from the first impact and then gets hit by another asteroid that jolts her arm free

Interestingly, it’s open to interpretation. Her eyes are open, so she might be conscious, but her hand moves like a brick.

Discuss.

Shes dead Jim.

Yup, quite dead. Canopy and face sheild were breached.

Its a shame… Her hand moved like a brick in death, but in life Race Track was a Brick House…

She’s an ex-Racetrack.

Dead meat. Pike, I know it when I see it.

I think she was dying and died right as she shot her Nukes… My big question did they get reserrection before the nuke hit them!

They didn’t get resurrection, at least not all of it because Chief interrupted the process. Even if they had, they would still need to build the new system I would think.

I think it will always be open whether the Colony was destroyed or not. Even old Galactica can take a nuke, so I’m guessing the Colony can take a few as well without vaporizing. I’d like to think it was destroyed, but then that’s a standard sci-fi ending for the “bad guys” which is kinda boring.

well they did say the file looks good they could have had it set up load the app and bam they are alive again!

My best guess would be, even if they got the information they needed that the Colony went into the singularity and all hands were likely lost.

In several of the interviews with RDM posted around lately, RDM indicates that, indeed, the nuked remnants of the colony drifted into the singularity and went crunch. In the DVD release we’ll even see it … unfortunately, the extra seconds that clearly indicate the colony’s end ended up on the cutting room floor for time constraints.

As to the whole “Galactica can take a nuke, why not the colony?” argument …

We’ve seen baseships taken out time and again by the KEW guns on Galactica and Pegasus. Those shells are, while scary, considerably less powerful than nukes. For whatever reason, the Colonial fleet was built around the “stand there and take it” school of engineering while the Cylon fleet was built around the Doritos principle–“Crunch all you want, we’ll make more.” (The TIE fighter is, perhaps, the ultimate Doritos weapon system). This makes sense. With the original Cylons being machines, making more of themselves was a simple procedure–once resurrection and download capability became open to them there was even LESS incentive for durability. After all, they had access to nearly limitless numbers.

And quantity is a form of quality all its own. Just ask the Germans … the American tanks in WWII were inferior to the German tanks, but we had seven to their one. It’s a costly way to fight, both in material and lives. But, in the BSG case, lives don’t count for the Cylons.

And, of course, there’s the little fact that the Colony was supposed to remain hidden.

I think that the black hole gets them. It seemed like the nuke blasts knocked them out of their orbit because the ship was then getting hit with the same kind of debris that was floating around the rest of the black hole.

Yay! I’m glad to hear that we’ll see the end of the colony.

I see what you’re saying, and it makes a kind of sense, but I am pretty sure you’ve put more thought into than the writers. We’ve also seen all manner of weapons and collisions of a non-nuclear nature seem to do worse damage to Galactica than a nuke. So I think it depends more on the whims of the writers than it does strategy.

RDM has said that they cut the scene that shows the Colony being obliterated for the sake of time. Incredible. It’ll be on the DVD.

It who does not like the name God does seem to like explosions. And big guns. And hot chicks with big guns…

It is SEAN!
