Looks like a very small developer, which most gamers enthusiastically support by natural inclination, so I hope they can eventually deliver a playable game.
Meanwhile, don’t forget to sign up for free to play End of Nations, the MMORTS from a big evil corporation. And uh, most have a love/hate relationship with developer Petroglyph, who previously made (infamously made) SEGA’s Universe at War and Lucas Art’s Star Wars: Empire at War. Good games but with a ingredient of Suck that prevented them from becoming great.
The MMORTS doesn’t really exist yet because conceptually the RTS, in existing form, cannot scale to massively multiplayer. Offer a galaxy without borders and a just few veteran RTS players will quickly dominate it. So no one is quite sure what a successful design for a massive RTS would be like. Everyone is brimming with ideas. It’s very much about conceiving of the most ingenious mousetrap. And, true enough, most game innovation of late is coming from indie developers.
Maybe 2012 is the year of the MMORTS at long last. I hope so. Aren’t we all tired of 1v1, 2v2, and FFA?
