No arguments, just be honest...

Regardless if you feel Gaeta is right in his actions, as some of you are, who would you honestly feel safer with in charge:

Adama or Gaeta & the Sunshine Boys?

I’ve got to go with Gaeta - not because I think he’s a better leader, but because he, unlike Adama, is not forging an alliance with the Cylonz. I know we’re all about letting bygones be bygones and the cylonz have grown and all of that but maybe they should have started with exchanging algae cookie recipes first and worked their way up to ftl drives.

I can honestly vote for Baltar here. Gaeta? Too revolutionary and black/white. Adama? Too martial law and I-know-what’s-best. I’d be terrified under either command. At least with Baltar, there’s no war and his motivation is very clear: survival for himself.

And now with a Basestar in the fleet, Baltar will always have a retreat to escape to.

i have to go with adama. so far under gaeta’s rule, it isnt safe to walk the hallways of galactica. and the sunshine boys are threatening rape when things calm down. under adama, i may have felt wronged and angry, but i would feel safe. part of this is due to that fact that as part of the show’s audience, I’ve seen the alliance from the cylon’s side, and I believe the cylons are genuine in their wish to be permanent allies with the fleet. however someone in the fleet wouldn’t know this, so i understand where they would not feel safe under adama. but so far, gaeta/zarek hasnt made anyone safe. i guess baltar is the best option. i mean everyone in his lair seemed pretty calm, they were just packing things n chatting. very nice

I agree Adama. There is so much more to leading than standing on the bridge snapping out the right quip when someone is hesitating. Adama is well seasoned and stable. He can make the tough decisions with long term consequences in mind. Gaeta will not be able to achieve stability.

Grudgingly voted Adama, dude has a great track on getting them through nuclear weaponry kind of rough times. Still sooner or later we’d all end up in jackboots and with funny little mustaches.

Wow, Im surprised at the poll.

Hate to say it but I know some don’t agree, including the 3 deities of GWC, I side with Adama and Roslin, I don’t believe the fleet would have ever made it as far as it has with out them. Yeah I don’t agree with the Pres and Adama sleeping together, I don’t like Zarek in any position, he’s just to scheming and skevy. At some point you have to have force to keep people in line, you can’t just let everyone do what they want, that doesn’t work it’s anarchy.

For instance tillium is needed for the entire fleet, you can’t just let the ship leave, it’s needed for the survival of the human race. Now granted this is a very dire situation so it’s needed to be like that, I don’t expect that in a world like ours at all, but when there’s only 30,000 some odd people left things need to be done. Sure not every decision they made was correct but in the position they are in I think they’ve done a good job.

And about the Cylon jump drives, they are needed, seems everyone forgets that Cavil and a whole lot of base ships are still out there, by having a much larger jump distance, same as Cavil’s fleet, will only improve there chances of survival and escape when needed. You have to take the means to increase survival at any chance you get. I don’t understand why that was never mentioned when they were discussing the upgrades and that would be a pretty compelling reason to me.

Yeah, because settling on New Caprica was a great idea before the Cylons tracked them down. Oh, wait, no it wasn’t. Baltar will make sure he survives, but he’ll sacrifice his team members when it will serve his own survival. Of course, I voted Baltar here.

In terms of safety, I think we’re safer with Adama. On the other hand, safety isn’t always the goal.

I have to go with the man that is always concerned with survival above all else.

Since the question is who I would feel safer with, I’d have to go with Adama. Even if I were doomed (and the last episode certainly left him in a precarious situation), I would FEEL safer with Adama than just about anyone. Sign of a true leader.

Oh craaaap, does this make him the dying leader?

Well, New Caprica wasn’t really Baltar’s idea…in fact, he thought it looked pretty crappy too, IIRC. But as I tried to say, at least I know where Baltar’s motivations lie. As long as I can make myself essential to his survival, I can feel safe. And even if I can’t do that, I’ll know what he’ll do next and can plan for it. With Adam/Roslin and Gaeta/Zarek? They could change their minds and do something drastic at any moment, and the fallout so far has been disastrous on most accounts.

Adama & Roslin may make mistakes, they may have their control issues, and they may be wrong about this whole Cylons-are-a-lot-like-us and we can be friends thing, but at least they’re not crazy, mean, and scary.
