I admit it…I geek out about sports too…heavily!!! I used to write game by game recaps for the NJ Devils before the term “blog” existed, but I realized how insane and life-consuming it was when the NHL Locked Out…now I do little ones and I write weekly football ones…I was just wondering if there was enough NFL Fan interest to share and discuss them here too…and it’s always good to have more fans to joke about the things we love outside of Sci-Fi, since I seem in a bit of a Sci-Fi rut and let down by Apollo 18…any takers?
There’s actually a GWC Fantasy Football league that’s been ongoing for 3 years now. So yep we got some fans. Also feelin the Devils love, glad to have another fan on board!
Nice!! I re-upped my season tickets this year, they lowered the prices…I’m in 3 FF leagues as IS
Hey if you got facebook…add me… CRASHER!
I’m definitely a sports geek too and follow a lot of different teams and leagues. But there is something special about the NFL, and college football. Probably because over here even though it has become a pretty main stream sport at this point, we still have a relatively small group of hardcore, really geeky fans with a strong online community, live chat during the games and so on. I’ve made a lot of great friends through the sport.
I’m a big Buccaneers fan so our season didn’t start off as well as hoped. I never really bought into the hype last season though as we had a ridiculously easy schedule and went 10-6 by only beating one team with a winning record, and that was the Saints in the last game when they were already certain to make the playoffs. From what I saw in week one this could be a long season, but at least we are still a young and improving team.
I watched part of the Redskins game too. Loved the interception by Kerrigan, way to represent. I spent the fall semester of '08 at Purdue so he is one of the few players in the league I have actually seen live.
I love my hockey (play it 2-3 times a week and I buy the NHL Center Ice Package and the season tickets and all) but there is something so special about being in the bar with friends and bartenders who have become friends, all the games on, the laptops, cell phones and everything as the fantasy football network goes bananas…friends in DC scream about the Redskins, California about the Bills (those calls are epic), Delaware about Flacco…those 17 Sundays are the greatest thing all year!!!
Even though the damn Cowboys ripped out the heart and the hope in fell swoop of 4th Quarter idiocy argh (and making it worse against the Jets, living where I do, I hate no fanbase more then them…I’m still snarling about it today!)
As for Tampa, I agree, they play two rough divisions in the schedule, and will be a step down kinda team…not as bad as the Chiefs…but I don’t think they’re gonna make the playoffs (hard to have 3 teams in the NFC South in too)
I love being in GWC Fantasy Football! I am mostly a football fan, but I watch The SPorts Reporters every Sunday with HubAZ.
Huge NFL Fan… Steelers First, but all football is good football.
Also, love F1 racing, and Indy Car Racing.
I’m still laughing at the Peter King pic (God he looks a LOT like Mike Francesa, must be the over-sized blowhard thing )
It feels weird to say for the first time in like 15 years that the Buffalo Bills are the most fun team in the NFL to watch!
Though I can watch any game but the damned Cowboys at this point… :eyebrow:
Go Wings! scampers out
You’re offsides
I can’t do an NHL thread till my NHL Center Ice goes live for the opening faceoff!!!
Though…NHL 12 helps, and it’s pretty awesome having Gordie Howe on my first line
Packers fan here! and no not just because they won the Superbowl last year (I actually live about 40 minutes from Lambeau and grew up cheering for them)
not liking how their Defense is looking so far this year though…and now Collins out for the year? ugh!
I wouldn’t worry too much about the defense (nasty injury aside and that was a nasty looking one)…all the defenses league-wide have sucked, no time to practice, limited training camp and this “no pads in practice” garbage (that I HATE)…it’s gonna take most of the season for defenses to catch up to offenses…least for the Packers, their offense is nigh-unstoppable!!
Packers are third in my checkdown list of ‘whom to root for.’ (My AFC team, The GF’s NFC team, The municipally owned team.)
Some of my friends who play in Danish clubs told me that at this point they have a lot more practices with pads in a year than an NFL team. And they are amateaurs practicing about twice a week. Of course they aren’t as fast and strong as nfl players so they don’t hit as hard but it still seems strange.
Wonder how bad the defenses will have to look before the players allow a change on this no pads thing…grrrr
anyway on a funnier note, this re-defines IN YOUR FACE
OMG that’s awesome. Any clue why he did that? I tried to find out by reading the comments on YouTube but… they’re comments on YouTube.
I think he MEANT to throw it into the stands and FAILED…I saw it on NFL Network and almost fell outta my seat!
I just watched again and I can’t buy that…
My only guess is he meant to throw it to the dude, but expected the guy to somehow catch the ball. As if the random guy had good reflexes.
His head is raised and looking to the stands but he threw the ball with his feet off the ground…I’m willing to chalk this up to a D&D type botch!!!
