New Star Trek DVD collection

I was in the store the other day and saw that there is a new ST movie collection called “the kirk/Spock” collection. It is the “trilogy” of ST:TWOK, ST3, and ST4.

It is supposed to be “newly remastered”. Have any of you bought it… and does it have any new special fetures to make it worth ditching my 2 disk versions for?

Saw it, but didn’t pick it up since I was looking for the Director’s Cut of TMP. (Yes, I can stop wondering if I’m a gianormous geek now. I know.)

Couldn’t one say that TOS is ALL Kirk and Spock? Now I am not nitpicking the show; just the method the studio is trying to cash in on DVD sales. I know they are in business to make money and I am good with that, but like I said just about every TOS as far as I can remember was Kirk and Spock.

Maybe I am wrong tho.

I would argue all Kirk, Spock and Mcoy

. Only trekkies really give a crap about the other characters. Everyone else knows “beam me up Scotty” but most even casual trek watchers couldn’t tell you about the other characters other than Scotty, black girl, asian dude, and dude that can’t talk.

My dad has watched trek with me for years… ans past Spock, kirk, McCoy… and Scotty… the others could be missing and it wouldn’t change the story for him at all. It was not an ensamble cast.

It is just repackaging as far as I can tell. I have also seen a BORG set, Time Travel set, and a Mirror Universe set.

But all of them just seem to be another way to try and milk money out of Trek fans, which is funny. Because real Trek fans would already have all of those episodes, or movies anyways!

It reminds me of the new Potter DVD sets coming out, same movies just with more deleted scenes and other crap shoved onto special features discs. And new packaging.

Or kind of like those damned Star Wars figures, that they keep repainting in order to try and get you to buy them…
