New show on FX: Archer

I caught a commercial for Archer on the day of its premiere last week and thought to myself, “Well, it doesn’t look bad and I need something new.”

Here is their description for the show:
Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy set at the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other.
I described the show on Twitter as, “Venture Brothers, Harvey Birdman, The Office and James Bond all get drunk, do something nasty to each other and give birth to this love child.” This is biting no holds barred comedy.

The wife (MY WIFE, for frak’s sake she’s not a geek–her love of Firefly notwithstanding) came in raving about this yesterday after hearing clips of it on NPR. We’re recording it tonight, I believe.

I haven’t been able to catch the first episode, but episode 2 & 3 are a “rip roaring good time” Thanks for the recomendation Solai!

Worth catching if only for Chris Parnell and Aisha Tyler. It’s really not a bad show.

Ok, it is now on Hulu and Netflix. If you want a sample episode I highly recommend Skytanic. I seriously rewatch that episode over and over.

Every episode is hi-larious. I recommend Skytanic, ep 7 as the one to watch but as I rewatch them they are all awesome.

Blah! Drawn Together does James Bond. Drawn Together lost its charm before the first 'sode was done, and so did this.

Not quite following your analogy, but yeah Drawn Together got tiresome quickly. Archer, OTOH, manages to stay fresh.

The humor of both was usually crass/sexual. If that’s your thing, that’s fine by me, but I loose interest if it’s over done. I liked Harvey Birdman though. I still laugh about Myron Reducto and his shrink ray.
