is it just me ot does the new cylon “home” ship thing look like Forerunner or Covenant tech from Halo… right down to the glyphs and purple color and organic look.
I haven’t seen the graphics from Halo, but it certainly is a new design for the show. Well, maybe I should say it’s a new ship…the organic looking design was also seen back when Boomer flew the nuke into the basestar and saw all the nudey Sharons.
This design always reminded me of the Alien movies, that Geiger stuff.
Hi, I just woke up after a 12-hour sleep (due to an unnamed OG’s recommendation that Cavil is just a cranky baby. :p;) ) Anyway, I dream that the new Cylon-tech Galactica was named the AeroBasetar, and that the Cylon goo not only altered the ship, but altered the humans to look like those weird humanoid aliens from the Star Trek universe.
To me it looked like an asteroid or something that was converted.
But Id need to see it again.
Others out there in the internet ether are “stating” that the new ship is The Colony. That’s all - just stating it in passing. I saw/heard no support for that. Did anybody else?
(OHHH - unless it’s a conclusion based on Cavil’s statement to Hera that soon she would have many friends (The Colony having some tie in to resurrection tech). But, if Cavil knew where The Colony was - why did he need to threaten Ellen - and be willing to perform “surgery” on her - to rebuild resurrection tech? I mean that tech exists on The Colony right - or at least info about how to build it. Once again I am totally confused.)
The minute they showed the Colony I thought to myself,
“Oh…this is where all the budget went”
I remembering him saying that, but I guess I thought he was talking about all the Dorals and Simons she would meet. But now that you said that I realize my idea was just silly! Yeah, he must be planning to make copies of her somehow.
I do believe that the ship was the Colony. And this makes sense with the Six saying the Colony had been moved in the past 5 months. But it’s still a good question of how are they going to restart resurrection without the FF.
Actually I thot it looked more like the transwarp hub for the Borg.
speaking of, i’ve really noticed that ever since he that believeth in me (and the hub i guess too), there have been veerrry few visual effects. they’re definitely saving up the vfx budget for something crazy in the finale. i can’t wait!!!
Strangely, the first thought I had was that the thing looked like the squid from Watchmen. It has glowing red slanty structures that look like menacing eyes, like the attic windows on that house in Amityville Horror. Ellen must have been in a Gothic mood when she commissioned it.
RDM said as much about a year ago.
I liked the episode a lot - but here’s my confusion:
-
Without the FF’s knowledge there’s not enough tech and info on The Colony for the S7 to “build” resurrection tech? (It just dawned on me that the resurrection hub and ships had to be built under the guidance of the FF, or else Cavil would not have needed Ellen’s help - duh.)
-
Where’s The Colony been all this time?
-
Does The Colony now have FTL drive (because the FF sure did not)?
CAN ANYBODY POST A PHOTO OF THE DARN THING?
I see what you mean. To me, it looks like the pre-cursor to Halo, Marathon, from the 90’s. At the end of the game the “villian” has a cyborg ship, purple in color, very organic looking.
You can find Marathon references all over Halo. It is fun for olde-timers like me.
I thought maybe he knew where the Colony was all along and just needed to threaten Ellen so that she would flee to the fleet and enable the ruse to capture Hera. Maybe the Colony has the ability to create new Cylon models, but not resurrect old ones. If the memories and experiences of each model were stored at the Hub, then each existing Cylon is still essentially mortal…
Here’s an image from our favorite composer’s blog
Thanks. (Ummm - I’m sure I’ve lost my mind, but it resembles Imperious Leader from TOS. At least it does it you put your eyes out of focus.)
(Must not make old age joke. Must not make…)
Um, yeah, I could maybe see it.
Imperious Leader - wearing a crown.

Possible that it was just a bluff to carry out the Kidnap Hera plan. Possible that Cavil just wants to take the Colony so the final fives/rebel cylons won’t have their hands on it. Also possible that Cavil now have the Simons working at the colony to see if they could work out how to resurrect. Weren’t the Simons always interested in farming a lot? I’m kind of interested to see if the Simons would finally get to talk at length about this (or about anything really, or are the Dorals and especially the Simons destined to not have a huge part in the show?)

Probably where Ellen thought it was until Cavil moved it. I guess with Cavil’s info withholding of other models, he was probably the one who knew of its existence after the final fivers.

I’d imagine it so, otherwise it might be a real bitch to be moving it around along with the Cavil fleet. As seen on the Galactica with its repairs, goo baths and FTL updates, cylons are pretty quick to install that stuff.
