We have a cool new Metro Park that has an Audubon center. My daughter is a birder so we go to the park often. She has even gotten involved with a bird banding program and is a volunteer at the center. So we go to this park often.
There is an activity area to the park but we had not gone over to it until last week. You can walk through a wet lands area to get to the activity area, which is awesome. The activity area has a 35foot rock climbing wall, 3 sand volleyball courts, picnic tables, a new style playground, and this thing called NEOS.
I had never seen a NEOS before but we really enjoyed it. The creators wanted to find a way to get the electronic gaming outside on the playground or in the park. They also wanted it to be fun for the whole family while getting everyone active. It has nine games, one or two players and three difficulty levels. My family and I had so much fun playing with this thing. It was beeping and flashing and no one was really going near it. So my daughter and I decided to see what it was all about. We challenged each other to a game of “Light Grabber”, which basically who can push the lighted buttons the most time. We kept playing and we eventually had a small crowd of people watching. I think we played about 4 games before we realized we had a cheering section so we stepped aside and let others have a turn. Anyway the folks who made it have a webpage so you can see what it’s like. It’s a fun electronic gaming system at the park that kids and parents can play and enjoy while getting exercise. I guess it’s kind of the Wii of the playground. Check it out
