Need Resume Help

OK, here’s the skinny:

I’ve been a stay at home mom for almost 9 years. I had a job for 4+ years before that. So, no update to my resume in about 12 years AT LEAST. I can’t even find a hard copy of my resume. I’m starting from scratch.

I wasn’t looking for a job, but saw a job listing for a VERY part-time job for my local newspaper that would bring in a tiny bit of extra income for us. I’m more than qualified for it. I could probably do it from home, if they allow. To find out, though, I need to submit a cover letter and resume.

Here’s where you guys come in. I have no idea where to start with a resume today. I’m sure things have changed vastly in what is “in vogue” as far as creating a resume.

I’m looking for advice to help me with creating a basic resume for a part-time admin/writing position for my local newspaper. See the obituary coordinator position listing below. If you’d like to help me and want to PM me for more details about my qualifications or to point me in the right direction, I’d be WAY grateful.

I have been working for the same company for almost 22 years now, well kinda the company got sold in September. So I may be needing to do this myself in the not so distant future.

I have an old resume that I keep updating on Monster.com. But there are resources online to create one. Here’s a few links:

http://www.onlineresumemaker.com/employees/online_resume_makers.php

http://www.resumetemplates.org/

The first site lists web sites that allow you to build a resume online. The second has templates to get you started.

I don’t look for flash in a resume, just the facts. I think with your job as a full time mom leaving a long gap, you need to nail your qualifications in your cover letter.
