Name that Sci-fi

OkAy I need some help answering a question

There was this movie from a while back not sure when exactly but it was some time in the 80’s

it was about this group of kids that build there own space ship from a junkyard, I can’t really remember much else accept that it was a round spaceship and they went into Space and met Aliens.

Anyone?

Explorers with River Phoenix and Sean Astin. I loved that movie as a kid! Particularly when they find the alien spaceship and it turns out they were not that disimilar to them, let’s just say (want to avoid spoilers. Though why I should on a 20 year old movie, I don’t know.)

Is that what you were thinking of?

Wow…I never heard of that movie. Very strange. Here is the link to imdb:

Also good kid friendly Sci-Fi movie… I think they built their ship out of an amusement park ride cart if I remember correctly. With KC cage lights and an onboard 80’s computer. It wasn’t a Raptor mind you but I think it did break atmo

Is this gonna turn into a cool quiz thread? Like whoever gets the right answer gets to give another cryptic clue to a sci-fi film/tv show.

Just an idea.

Medical cannabis

Does that mean I’ve gotta come up with something now? Frak!

So long as Boomer doesnt mind I just hijacked his thread.

A long, long time ago, on a July vacation far far away…
I read a sci-fi anthology paperback. I have been trying to remember what it was called for 30 years. One story dealt with a number of small round objects that had fallen to Earth, and our scientists had of course chopped them open, releasing death and destruction (the alien intelligence involved had intended that they be PEELED open, like an onion, or something. Another story had an impending invasion of Earth on the way, and humanity in it’s wisdom used a kind of thought-transfer device to put everyone’s conciousness into the brains of DOGS (yes, dogs), the aliens not being interested or concerned with dogs, apparently. I’m not saying these were good stories, just something I’ve been trying to recall for a long time…Any help ?

lol…the title should read “of” sci-fi…not “f”…oh my.

Thanks.

Now, Pike and Solai, FIGHT TO THE DEATH!

(I can’t think of anything right now, so someone, please, take over. I’m too tired from too much driving the last two weeks.)

If you are going to break atmo, at least say excuse me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Death by tray it shall be!

…do you know who I am?

Jeff Vader, of course.

Wouldn’t you rather have death by snoo-snoo, though?

Only by Amazonian woman … from the future…

Speaking of building a spaceship out of junk…

Does anyone remember “Salvage 1” with Andy Griffith? In this short lived series from the 70’s, Griffith played a junkyard owner who built a spaceship capable of going to the moon and “Salvaging” all the “Junk” that NASA left up there.

yeah, they built a rocket that landed vertically, the same way it took off. it was cool. the chick got attacked by a gorilla while using the banana soap.

No way! I thought I was the only person who remembered “Salvage 1”! Wow, the GWC community never ceases to amaze…!
