July 10, 11, and 12 Screaming Tikicon is in Cleveland. Apollymy and I are heading to it and were wondering if any of our fellow Ohisians (people who live in Ohio) might be interested in a meetup.
Apollymy has more info here.
Hey. I’ve had a crazy-busy month, and just caught wind of the thing. I got all excited, rushed to PM Apollomy about it, and all too late did I realize I was the last NEOhioan to know about it.
So, anyhow, if the water don’t rise and nobody at home gets sick – knock on wood – I’m def’nitely there.
I’m being told that Cleveland is 2 1/2 - 3 hours from here. I could do a Friday meet, or if it’s Saturday I could come down after work I just would not be able to stay late as I have to work at 7am here in Ann Arbor.
Oh hell…A meet up in my own back yard? Craaapp.
And dxf is coming too??
groans
I’m going to have to do some sucking up to the parents… Wish me luck.
I’ll be coming up Friday night and Apollymy and I were planing on going to the con on Saturday. So PM me or apollymy and we’ll try to work out details.
I’ll def’nitely be there Saturday. Any Friday or post-con activity is subject to whether me & the Mrs. can get a babysitter.
I’m looking for places in the area where we can sit down and have a drink/meal/whatever. I’m not overly familiar with the area, so gonna drive down there tomorrow and scope out the area. Any ideas re: kind of place I should look for?
So I scoped out the venue this morning. Parking in the area is hit-or-miss. (Head Lance, I’m checking into schedules for the Rapid, to see if it’s worth it to ride down as opposed to park.) With Ingenuity-Fest happening at the same time, it’ll probably be crowded.
But, on the plus side, I found a restaurant I know within easy walking distance (~2.5 blocks). It’s right near Jacobs Field, er, I mean Progressive Park, but since there’s no game in town Sat night, it shouldn’t be too crowded. It’s called Winking Lizard, and they have something for everyone: pizza, burgers, fantastic barbecue… and the largest collection of beers I’ve ever seen in one place… There’s lots of other restaurants in the area, but this is one I’m very familiar with, so I would have no qualms about recommending it as a place to go.
Is anyone still interested?
I think I’m going to have to do a work thing that night, but I’m tentatively in. Winking Lizard is a great choice, though: roomy and casual. And with nothing in town, it’s a swell spot to lounge for a while.
If the new Fatheads in North Olmstead is as good as the Pittburgh one, it’s definitely worth a drive some time, FYI.
