I used to run a home built DVR with a hauppauge tv card (hardware encoding/decoding) hooked in to a medium power (for the time) PC and on in to my TV, taking an analogue feed off a cable provider (so realy more of a PVR as it wasn’t digital). Times ahve moved on and I am now running a VU+ duo, it takes the dual satellite feed from my dish and has a slot for the subscriber card for encrypted channels in the front, with a 2Tb HDD inside for programme and database/EPG storage, with the o/s (OpenPli) running in flash RAM on the device itself.
In the old PVR days, I ran software called knoppmyth, a merging of Knoppix linux and mythtv. Mythtv was great, it would follow programmes if they moved times (as it tagged each programme separately, kinda like what sky does now with series link). IT would even auto resolve clashes, so if you tried to record more things at once than you have inputs then it would move them.
So, has anyone run mythtv on one of those boxes or any dreambox/Enigma set up?
